Not to be a downer on the subject, but the real problem is not the operation of the AFM system in a way that turning it off in the software is going to be a complete and 100% fix.
It has been reported over the years where others have had the AFM turned off in the truck's computer only to have the actual hardware fail at some point.
The AFM hardware, mainly the lifters, is the weak link.
The only sure way to be certain of not suffering a failure is to spend the money and have all of the AFM related hardware removed and replaced with non-AFM parts.
There are kits for this very purpose.
If you are serious about wanting to prevent future failure of your engine, then investing in a true AFM delete now would be the best option.
I would think the cost of a true AFM hardware delete is going to be a lot cheaper than a total engine replacement.
