Oil Filter Study.

A good article. It is a shame that he hasn't updated it since June 2000. :(
 
Great article thanks for finding it. I often wondered what was inside and how they were pu ttogether. This shed allot of light on this and also suprisedmeon some of the more well known brands.

I was told long ago that the OEM filters were junk. This report has changed my mind. The GM filters recieved a pretty good rating. I think I will keep using the GM filters.
 
:2:Just a note on filters ,even though it wasn't tested in the study I have read that Bosch filters are rated highly at a reasonable cost . :D
 
K&N, Hastings and the Mobil1 filters were among the best from the research I've done.
The Mobil1 filters are made by Champion. I wish that Amsoil, K&N and Mobil 1 would come out with one for the 8.1L engine. I'm using Hastings now.

Got part number for AV2500 from 1-800-Ask-Mobil:"M1-111". Not sure where to find it! :eek:
 
Much obliged for the reference on Oil Filter Study- most imformative and educational. I liked the analysis because no opinions expressed until final report and this guy was not even doing this for compensation. Certainly tells a reader what to 'stay away from'.
