Oil in Intake Manifold?

i pulled the intake manifold to do intake gaskets, and as i was moving the manifold around to remove old gaskets, it started to make a puddle of oil on my garage floor. my first thought is replace the PCV. then ive read some where the 02 AV have a PCV valve, and the 03 and up have what looks like a PCV, but is an empty shell.

if this change in PCV valves is true, can someone please explain what the lack of a valve inside it is better?

also, i have not looked at mine close enough to know if the one on my truck has an actual valve inside, or if its the empty shell.

thank you

I’d look into an oil catch can. That’s what I’m pronounced going to do on my 05.

Please read my post on oil consumption and AFM.

Your solution does not apply since his engine is older version without AFM.
