Has anyone had the oil level message show up intermittenly?  The level is fine and is about half way through to the 9K change.  I have changed 2x so far.

I too have this problem.  Oil is not low.  Oil level is fine.  Also oil pressure gage is not working.  Anyone else have a fix for these issues?

Thanks in advance.

Russ

Possibilities:

Oil pressure sensor.

On a 2007 and up, there is a filter screen under the oil pressure sensor that should be removed and replaced, as well.

The 2006 and older engines do not have that filter screen.

Cluster gauge stepper motor for the oil gauge.

It may be wise to have the oil pressure checked with a manual oil pressure gauge before tearing into the cluster to change stepper motors.

Oil pick up tube o-ring.

Oil pump.

Oil pump is the least likely, but still possible.

I would start with a oil pressure sensor first.

The oil pick up tube o-ring and the oil pump are much more involved and expensive to repair or place.

I wouldn't want to go there unless I was absolutely sure one or both was the actual problem.

If it's saying the level is low then it isn't the pressure sensor, it's the oil level indicator.  You could try replacing the sensor - it's near the starter.  Look for some wires plugging into something screwed into the block - has a large plastic hex head as I recall.

This.

Sorry, I mis-read level for pressure.

I have been dealing with an oil pressure reading issue over the past week or so and that was fresh on my mind.

My response was directed more toward the oil pressure issue in the second post.

As mentioned above, check for a connection at the oil level sensor on the passenger side of the oil pan first.

You should plan to drain off some oil before removing the old oil level sensor since your oil level is going to be well above the opening for the sensor and several quarts of oil will want to come out.

Swapping out this sensor at an oil change would be ideal.

My new oil pan came with the new sensor already installed, so I did not have to mess with that.

You possibly could just plug in the new sensor to the connector and move the float to different positions to test to see if the old sensor is the actual problem before committing to draining off some oil.

The sensor is just a device with a float attached to determine if the oil is below the point of the sensor.

Should be easy to test.
