So I noticed last week when I was working on the Av that the ground strap to the hood snapped. Since I was placing a huge order I ordered the strap. I removed the nut from the hood no problem but as soon as went to loosen the nut.on the firewall the bolt sheered off, just like what happened to me on the blasted overflow tank a couple.months back. Anyway I noticed the engine ground strap a few inches over. Will it cause any issues if I just attach the hood strap on top of it. If that's a bad ideas any idea how to replace the busted bolt? UGH, I am.so done with busted bolts, and these aren't even the rusty ones.

You could put a spot of heat on that broken stud, and then follow up with penetrating fluid. Hammer it a few times, and it should come right out. Clean up the area a bit with a wire brush or sandpaper, and bolt the strap back on with a new bolt and a star washer. Hit it with a bit of paint, and good to go!(y)

Thanks. What I don't understand is how is that bolt secured in there and how will the new one stay secure once I get the stub out. Seems like it's welded to the firewall which is why I moved it over to the main ground.

I think the studs are spot welded... and ok to combine those two as they are both on firewall.

But does that studgo thru firewall and have something on back side?

I don't think it goes through the firewall. I don't even want to think how much of the dash O would have to take apart to find out.
