For all of you that are getting aftermarket cat back exhausts - what are you doing with the old ones? Are they being removed in a reuasable fashion?

I went with the stainless cat back Gibson
took the factory system out one piece in case I trade in/up to 03/04 AV -- can put factory sys back
and either install on new or recoupe some funds

It depends on the vehicle. On my Porsches I keep the stock since most folks that would purchase the vehicle won't pay extra for the upgrade. I have sold them on eBay.

On both my Tahoes & Avalanche, they took the stock exhaust as a trade-in. Especially the Avalanche one since it only had 40 miles on it.

I've always had mine done at a muffler shop and never gotten anything back. Not that I wanted it. I did ask one time about the stock muffler and was told (right or wrong) that it was cut off so close to the muffler body that it was unuseable.

I asked my guy if I cuold keep it and of course he let me. It is yours afterall. There is no core charge and no reason you shouldn't get it back. My take on it is to save it in the event you need to get it back to stock or if you should, God forbid, sell your Av, you can put it back to stock tone for the next buyer.

I had mine cut off and I put it under the house for the future. You never know when you might need a muffler, or one of your friends might need one. My last Dodge Dakota muffler ended up on my buddies V-6 Ranger. That was probably the best part on his ride >:D .

I had mine done at Silent Muffler in Flint MI. Didn't get anything back. I don't think I would want the old system back. Not enough room to store something that will probably never have another use.

i took mine off and put it in my storage just in case also. i do not see me trading the truck in. but if i do it will be another GM truck. so either way i will get some use of the Corsa. :B:

Since we're talking about stock mufflers, I was surprised how big and heavy the stock system is. Anybody know what that small tube is that runs off the stock pipe???

Dmacker...if your referring to the small tube closest to the rear section just before it exits....that tube actually attachs to a rubber fixture which serves as a stabilizer...a factory hanger if you will....

I still haven't done anything with my stock exhaust since I swapped out....the flowmaster that was on..goes to my buddy with the f-150..and the piping I'm assuming I could sell on ebay...but I don't think I want to be bothered with all that.... :B:

Believe it or not I seen one person put it on Ebay auction and got $20.00 + shipping! Not sure if it is worth the trouble!

Hmmm...not for $20....too bad I couldn't get like $200 then that would be sweet deal... :D :B:

I kept mine as well...
since the 2500 muf has 2 inlets and 2 outlets,
I might be able to get a little more on eBay...
good "poor man's" dual exhaust conversion! (y)
