02 north face.. my duralast alternators keep dieing about 3 to 6 months apart.. I bought a new alternator and battery together and everything was working fine till about two weeks ago my lights went dim and radio turned off.. so I knew it was my alternator again. I dont get why I'm going through so many alternators? I checked the wiring from alt to pcm and it was ok I check pos wire from alt to the red box on engine and from red box to battery, everything is fine.. the truck does not die and if I give it gas the alt does not go to 14 it just goes to 14 when it wants to and when it goes done to 12 or lower the battery light does not come on.. I just dont get that why when alt is not charging my radio turns off windows dont go up? Maybe I have a electrical problem or pcm? 20220210_092456.jpg20211202_201614.jpg

Not to be a wise a$$ but why not try a different remanufactured brand? Once the second Duralast failed at 3-6 months I would have switched. I've always used the Advanced Auto Parts remanufactured brand that has a lifetime warranty for all the stuff, including alternators, staters, window motors, etc and they have lasted 10+ years (believe it or not, I used on my 1994 K1500 that I owned for 24+ years - did the starter two times, only bought once, did the window motors twice, only bought once, the alternator once replaced lasted until I sold the truck).

Because it has a lifetime warranty... also because it has lifetime warranty I just dont wanna keep changing the alt without knowing the problem if it's the truck side or duralast just sucks...

Understand completely. It seems like you've covered the bases. Maybe there is some electronic item that is going bad or is bad that is causing an excessive load on the alternator when it is running, kind of like jumping a dead battery while your truck is running. Does the truck have any extra electrical devices added over the years or mods? Just thinking aloud.

Have you done any modifications to the AV like a aftermarket radio.
How any amps does the replacement alternator have.

Get this alternator and don't worry again, I have this alt on both of my 8.1 chevy's
