This morning 12:00 am when I left to go to work I noticed that my little button besides my on-star button was lit up red for 30 seconds or so ...not long but long enough for me to notice then it went back to the solid green............any one else have this quirk..or maybe an answer?

I've never seen that before - I have On-Star and have just renewed my subscription back in Oct 03.
I suspect it was probably a communication problem with a cell phone tower. Then once it made the connection, the light turned green.
I hope this isn't a continued problem for you.

Good luck,
Troy

Red = not working ( which could be many things...no signal...bad parts etc)

Green = Everything AOK

so inyour case since it went green I would say it works but to be sure...just hit the button and ask Onstar....heck make em earn that money we pay them...

My button is always green and onstar in my truck hasn't worked since Mid. Nov. just got letter im mail yesterday from onstar with new membership card and the phone number for my truck DUH it still does't work
??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

hit button...they will probably come on and say how do you want to pay....hehehe

nfhjr - it looks like you've got an administrative problem with your vehicle ID and On-Star's communication.

Your system reads green because the communication to the cell tower and operation within your vehicle is working. Basically, they've probably not IDed you properly as a subscriber. Someone most likely mistyped your vehicler ID, phone number or something.

Of course, I could be wrong - I'm just trying to help.

Good luck,
Troy

Hey just a little bit of information I have learned for the folks living in NJ. I have Liberty Mutual as my Insurance carrier. They give a 25% discount if you give them proof of OnStar and the GM installed anti-theft system. Just a little tid bit I thought I should pass along.

Thanks Trzav thats what I thought it might be maybe a cell tower took a hit here in Baltimore but normally I have no problems with reception in this area

I bought my truck used a few months ago and have not subsubscribed to on*, but the light is green. Does this mean that on* was activitated by the old owner? Is it still activited?

To TRzAV i have had my Av to the dealer and dealer says my onstar is working (have the paper work) onstar says it's working but wants me to take it back to dealer for another check, when you push button it dials and sounds like it's trying to connect makes other noise then says can not contact to onstar.
This whole thing started as i let my subscription lapse as i have a cell phone and road service, then changed insuriance comp. and needed to have onstar active, on the onstar web site to reconnect you have to do it in the truck won't work then back and forth three times and on and on and on not working yet
