Howdy all
Have a question about the OnStar antenna
It does not screw down all the way and you can see the interior post. Also, do these antennas (as short as they are) have a curly cue winding around it? I guess that is an okay way of explaining it. The winding thingie is suppose to suppress noise? I am more concerned about the gap. Do you think the dealer will replace it?

My radio antenna is black and has the windy thingie.
Thanks  :B:

there was a time when the dealers installed the antena now the factory does ...maybe they messed up.....See what they say......

Depending on the date of birth of you Av, there are two kinds of on-star antennas. The older model is just an antenna with the gps receiver mounted behind and to the right of the rearview mirror. Newer models have the gps receiver built into the base of the on-star antenna. The condition you describe is not right. The dealer will fix. The "swirl" pattern on all antennas break up the wind pattern and prevents whistling. :B:

Both the onstar antennas and the radio antennas have the swirl design....for the reason that avid posted above... :B:

HEY - I have that gap too! :D

I know why - my Av was missing the antenna, and the dlr pulled one from an EXT.

Does anyone know if either antenna is better than the other? I don't mind doing Iron's fix, but if there would be some advantage to getting the older antenna, I can have the dlr order it for me under warranty.

Thanks!

Seven
