Just curious if anyone has had the equipment upgrade for OnStar performed yet for the digtal switchover in 2008. I just got a letter today stating that I had to get this done or my OnStar would stop working. Wonder how easy/difficult it is to get this performed at the dealership and if paying for the equipment without the one year subscripition is possible, and if so, how much more does that run?

Not sure what year you have,,
But tons of info on the 2003 and up Click here

For the 02s we are out of luck, and there will be no upgrade..
Several threads are posted click here

Thanks for the link. The good news is that OnStar does not require three years anymore like all these posts read. It only requires a one year activation. I had an 04 Silverado with the Gen 6 and my 04 Avalanche has the Gen 5, so getting those features back will be nice. I didn't realize that this upgrade has been around for so long... I guess after two years it should be a pretty common thing for my dealership to do.

I'm getting my '04 taken care of this Thurs... It's cool because, it will allow for the Automated Directions and Connections to play :) I'll let you know how it goes if you are interested...
