did anyone experience the bolts on the (+) & (-) leads of the truck being too short to catch the threads of the battery? i tried to install my Red Top, but i could not easily get the bolts started. seemed they were not long enough. not to mention i did not have much room to operate.
if i for some reason can't get them started on the next install is there some adapter i can use to turn the side-mount leads into top-mount leads with a simple bolt-on mod? thanx in advance.

it says 900 CA/ 800 CCA on the top. i got it for $50 brand new. i figured i could not pass that up. ;D
i originally wanted to put it in my Tempest, but i do not want some one to steal it. the Tempest hood-release is in front of the car, rather than inside the car for those who do not know.

I had the same trouble with my last truck. The bolts seemed too short. For me the fix was to carve off some of the rubber around the bolt.

very good. i am glad you said that. this has been on my mind for the last two days. i thought if i cut some of the rubber off this would get me closer to getting the bolt started. just was not sure. ??? thank you for your input.

i actually found some longer mounting bolts to put the Optima in my AV. hopefully the battery is still good. looking at the date of my last post i would say the battery has been sitting awhile.

Try this...

If you get up 50 or more orders , he can have a bowtie (or whatever) engraved on the top.

'Kinda looks like this one (at the lower left)
HTH

..Also
If you want some CCA's try the Odyssey; they're AGM batteries but the lead is more pure than the Optima's. Their little 17 AH battery can start a Duramax!! (a warm one). 680 CCA!

You could use the small battery for the starter and place a higher capacity one where the OEM one is, for the accessories..

Do a search in the audio/video forum for plenty of info about Optima batteries. They are just another battery, plain and simple. Don't pay more for the marketing hype. They've been independently tested several times in the audio industry and have not been found superior to other batteries. The yellow tops also have had complaints of not being capable of reaching peak voltage upon recharge after cycling less than 10 times. That's sad for a "deep cycle" battery.

those covers look pretty good.

okay. i put the Optima in the AV. did not go as intended. the longer terminal bolts i bought were too long. :E: not to mention the fact that the terminal holes are too close to each other. the red terminal interferes with the black terminal connection, and vice-versa. :7: WTF!!! i could get the terminals on the battery if i tried. i just do not like how tight they are crammed together. i decided to keep the OE battery in the truck. i will put the Optima in the Tempest i guess. ??? the next step is to put it in the trash. :7:

Here's that billet top batt mount installed:

This was the Bowtie one..

I returned it; it was a prototype and their contractor then didn't know what a bowtie should look like . (look closely).
That would be corrected, if enough folks (50) group order them.

I was originally pretty interested in
the optima battery but after reading
all the negative stuff about them
I am just gonna stick with my
ac delcos.

And DS is completely right in his comments.
They really are not worth the hype.

Aetatis,
Don't mix up Optima and Odyssey! The Odyssey's are Military Grade and I've used them for several years now. Jeep clubs are all over them, almost exclusive.

This little 17AH guy packs 680CCA, Starts the av with no problem.
It'll deep cycle, and take full starter battery charge (in fact it likes it better).

Edit: I mispelled your nickname at first..

Yep! they both fit the stock tray. Now the mounts are done, I'll wire up the "coach" batteries.

some of us just have to learn the hard way i guess. :E:

my question is a little off topic, but are the batteries in the 02 and under on the pass side tward the fire wall? or is that a secondary battery? Also what is that on the side of your Oddesey batt?
