My thanks to AVSAM for sparking the idea in another thread.

Also, I know many folks would prefer painted cladding, but someone else can poll for that. ;)

Thanks for participating.

Tim

If the one with was a tad smaller. not so large.

I like 'with' better, but it would look nicer if it followed the shape of the wheel well cutouts. The AV is fairly angular and having the cladding rounded takes away from that.

Where can I get some for my 2500?

That was the first thing I noticed about the AV was the cladding cuttoff over the wheels. It does looked "finished" when it goes over the wheels. Does anyone have information about if this actually exists and is it on the market yet?

ygmn - Yep, I know... it's big because it follows the contours of the body.

ratthedd - Yep, I know... but same as above.

Matt - Sorry, I forgot to mention it's a PhotoShop edit. The rear wheel cladding is mucked up a bit in that it doesn't run parallel with the top of the bed, but you get the idea.

Kronk - I thought maybe a primitive rendering would get people thinking about it. ?But I don't know if anyone's making it yet.

I voted for "without", but let me defend...

It looks good "with" if you want that "Off Road" look, and maybe if you lifted about 3", and bigger wheels...

On a fairly "stock" Av, "without" looks better. To put it on a Z66 would just be morally wrong ;)

i agree with dreimer 100%!!!

I agree with Dan, but not always. If you don't have the off-road package don't try to make it look like an off-road vehicle. That's like the guys who take the 2wd and throw them up in the air.
The over the wheel does look good and I for one wish someone would post how to get it. I'm sure a lot of the dealers have no idea what it is. So post a part #

I think it ruins the look of the Avalanche. Just leave well enough alone. Im just amazed how many people put stuff on their avalanches and any other vehicle for that matter. ?I prefer to keep my automobiles show room condition...call me lame...but that stuff is just too over the top. ?I would prefer to take a vacation to Europe for the money you guys spend on that stuff.

Ooo, somebody woke up on the wrong side of the message board today. ;)

Oh well, to each his own but I must admit that I really kinda wondered what the Av designers were smoking when they came up with those tiny little freaking squared up wheel wells. Am I right people? ;D

Im sorry if it sounded like I woke up on the wrong side of the bed...but I stick by what I said...showroom condition and saving my money for other things that can bring me more enjoyment.

So if I get a loaded white Av and you get a loaded white and so on and so on and so on everbody would have the same truck. Why not add something to make yours unique. Park a stock one next to one with a 3" lift and 33's on it maybe tint the windows and add a RWB bowtie to the front and I wonder which one would get the most looks.

I kinda like the Av without the wheel cladding.....but like someone said above It all comes down to personal taste I suppose....

I'm all for uniqueness when it comes to cars and trucks, but I like the Av better with it's stock look when it comes to THIS situation..

To each his own...the way I see it...if they are looking at the one with more modifications...and the stock is sitting next to it...more looks might be because its "EGADS why did they do that?" This goes way back to my brother putting everything on his cars. I remember his beautiful '69 Nova...all of a sudden it was jacked up in the rear and keystone mags...etc...I liked it better the day it rolled into the driveway stock. Call me plain jane I guess.

I agree with ygmn....the above the wheel cladding is too fat....sorry have to give this current picture a big thumbs down :p In fact the more I look at it ..the MORE I HATE IT.

Personally if mine was not painted, I like it with. However it is just a little wide for my taste. ;)

Agreed. ?I just figured any manufacturer would follow the contours of the fender bulge in the sheet metal. ?If they didn't, I think it'd look pretty bad when viewed up close... but geez, maybe not?

Matt (Matts_U.A.V.) would probably know better than I since he works for Steelhorse. ?Wonder who their fender vendors are? ?Bushwacker? ?Xenon? Desert Ox?

Tim

P.S. kodeski - I was just kidding about the grumpiness thing... stock is cool and I've seen plenty of "J.C. Whitneyed" vehicles that made me nauseous.

Now that looks better with the shorter cladding over the wheel wells.

Now how about I make a manufacturing drawing and someone find a manufacturer?

I am off to the driveway with skectch pad, mechanical pencil, tape measure, but I am missing a curve measuring thingy.

I will try though.

Who can read an DWg file if I do it?

ygmn,

I can read a DWG file, and I can also export it to just about any format under the sun. I can even port it to a PDF format for all to access if that's what you are looking for.
