My truck is an '06... My overhead console and dome light will not turn off unless I bump them. I think I have a short up there above the head liner. In my part of the US (Seattle) the @%$#^&* pine tree needles get into everything, they clogged the drains intended to keep the sun roof area dry, my drains were clogged when I bought the truck. The carpet got wet when it rained (seems like all the time this winter) the glass shop that installed the new windshield cleaned them out for me and informed me this was a common occurrence on Avis.... So I think I got corrosion (green crap) growing on a common connector in that light circuit. Does anyone have experience removing the overhead/ dome lights? What does the forum think please?

I have taken mine out but it's been so long. Let me see if I can link a good video. Well did not find the one I was looking for so I went out and took mine off. Just use a small flat blade screwdriver and pry on the right hand edge closest to the passenger side of the lens cover. It will buckle a bit and the edge should come. It practically falls apart once you get the lens cover off. There should be power there all the time and the wire gets grounded by the BCM or a switch to light up. The return wire is most likely shorted.
