Painted Engine Covers.

I got an itch to do some more simple modding soooo....
This is after a couple coats of paint.
More to do...
The color kind of matches my flames.

Mine has been started for a while, I think I am going to add purple vinyl tape to those ridges! I also painted my air box cover and fuse box cover. There is one more thing that I am thinking about doing under the hood. Some custom work to that ugly black under hood liner!

Got the rest these done recently. (Before the bed covers) ;) The sun came back out between shots and changed the color slightly. :cautious: We actually had a few clouds yesterday. Still no rain....I think today is day 30!

That's the way I look at it. ;)
And, slightly off-topic, I did the top of our patio table (the plastic resin kind) in bright yellow. (guess i already mentioned that in previous post) Looks pretty durn good.? ;D My Wife put some bright blue placemats on it.....so I painted the inserts in the backs and seats of the chairs to match. Did two in bright blue and two in yellow. Came out really good. Love that Fusions.?
BTW, the engine parts aren't Fusions this time. It's Rustoleum. Only downside to Fusions is no metallic colors. Must have something to do with that "molecular bonding".

:D: VETMAN DID YOU FOLLOW SPORK AV'S DIRECTIONS ON PAINTING YOURS?  IF NOT WHAT DID YOU DO DIFFERENT... AND ANY PROBLEMS? THANKS

Update for those using plastic paint (like Fusion).  Was at Lowes getting some red plastic paint...saw they had plastic primer now.  So you can spray the plastic with the primer, than use any rattle can color on top of that you want.  I think both Valspar and Rustoleum had a plastic primer.

Heres mine, had it done last week along with the BT.  looks great!
Very happy with the guy who did mine

I cleaned the pieces with Dawn detergent and then prepped them with a little acetone.
Then I used the Duplicolor Plastic primer(it's clear) and Duplicolor Blue metalflake paint for plastics. I got mine at an Autozone close by.
Remember to use thin coats and follow the directions for drying time.
Piece of cake.
I still have more to do when time allows.
MOD ON!

:D: ;) ALRIGHT I GOT THE PAINT, THE SANDPAPER, AND PRINTED THE PREVIOUS DIRECTIONS FROM THIS THREAD. I DONT KNOW IF ILL BE ABLE TO GET ANY SERIOUS DESIGN INTO MINE, BUT WELL SEE. IM STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO USE MY DIGITAL CAMERA AND GET PICS ON HERE BUT ILL TRY. ALSO DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR HOW TO GET DESIGNS ON IT WHILE PAINTING? I KNOW TO 'TAPE' AREAS OFF... BUT WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO DO? BIG TOY CAN YOU HELP ME OUT?

I wish I could help you out H2ONWVS, but I took my cover to a guy and had it professionaly done.? I can suggest possibly printing out a design off the computer and cutting it out like a stencil and painting your design that way.? I would also make sure to prime the cover first and you might want to check to see if the paint you are using will withstand the high temperatures (ie. Automotive Paint or High Heat Paint)

Sorry, hope that helps a little

FWIW, I've NEVER had any heat-related problem with with Krylon Fusions, regular Krylon, or Rustoleum.
