This is the e-mail i sent to Red Banjo Pizza
Hello,
I represent the Chevy Avalanche Fan Club of North America, Utah section. We are a car club for the Chevrolet Avalanche vehicle. The club has 30,000 members nationwide and Utah has approximately 20 members plus their families. We have been doing an annual cruise to Park City via Emigration canyon and then theTangiers? Outlet mall.
For the last 3 years we have been enjoying lunch at Red Banjo pizza. Every year we bring our family members and order 3 -5 large pizzas plus pitchers of soda. We have been very satisfied with the food, waiting staff and atmosphere of your restaurant, until this year.
When we entered the Restaurant the boy who met us at front was not sure what to do with us. I told him who we were and that we had made reservations for the basement. He still was undecided so I led our members downstairs and we took up residence in the party room where we have been placed all the times prior. The waitress came down, took our order for the soda pitchers and one pizza. (the other pizzas we were still trying to decide) We were not made to feel at home like past years with the waiting staff. She was not friendly and had what I would call a scowl on her face. The TV was off and she did not even offer to turn it on. The restaurant was not real busy at the time we came in, around 2:00 P.M. The heat was on down there due to the spot lights being used it was a little uncomfortable. We did manage to find the remote but it did not work.
She came back down with our 3 pitchers of soda and our Red Banjo pizza. We then ordered the Daily Judge and what I called the Vegan Special (Pepperoni, Sausage, Canadian bacon and Beef). A few minutes later she came down to let us know the restaurant was out of Sausage. I said ?well I don?t know what to do.? She told me ?You can stay or you can leave.? Now my group and I were very offended by that statement. First of all her it is 2:30 P.M. on a Saturday and you do not have Sausage? So the Red Banjo Special was not a Red Banjo Special and we paid for a substandard pizza? I told her just give us the pepperoni, Canadian bacon, and beef for our third pizza and also bring down another pitcher of soda. My friend?s wife also ordered a sandwich and fries. When she came back down she had our other 2 pizzas and the sandwich with no fries. She went back upstairs and brought down the fries in approximately 15 minutes. Needless to say the sandwich was eaten by then. She said no charge for the fry?s and that she was sorry she did not hear the order for fries. I think this is the only time she ever sounded caring.
The pizza was noticeably different. Not sure what it was. The crust was too crunchy, maybe it was the sausage missing from the pizza, not sure but something was different. It wasn?t as good as we remembered it.
The last 2 times we were here the waitress we had was caring, bubbly, energetic, nice and catered to all our needs. That was awesome and what kept bringing us back. Now with this waitress and how we were treated there was comments about finding another place to have lunch. We, well at least I have been asked where to go for lunch by other folks who were going to Park City and I have always said try Red Banjo for great pizza and great service. Now I will not be saying that anymore.
Also, I had 2 restaurant.com $25 gift certificates and when she saw those she told me Red Banjo was not excepting them anymore and had told Restaurant.com to take Red Banjo off the site. She also said that there was a problem before where one table got up and left and only left the certificate on the table and she had to pay for it out of her own pocket. She then told me she would take one certificate and hopefully her boss would not kill her for taking it. Now I hope you realize that people who use these certificates buy them. And they are marked with a number. And that certificate number can be traced back to the individual who purchased it? Anyway I know the certificate says only one may be used at the time for the entire purchase and only for each month. I also know the certificate says it does not expire. I did buy 2 of them and I have used two of them there at the same time when we had a bigger group of people. The first time we came with 20 people that?s when I used both certificates, last year we had 14 people and I used one certificate. Saturday we had 11 people in our party. Our bill was $83 after the discount and counting the 18% gratuity which would have never been paid had it not been included in the bill. Even with our certificate and minus the fries I still feel we were overpriced for the service and quality of the food, compared with the same for the last two years.
Please do take this to heart. I also did a bing search for Red Banjo Pizza Reviews and visited tripadvisor.com and Yelp and some of the reviews were not good. But some of them were written before we came the second time too.
Sincerely,
Kent O Barnes
