Passlock or Passkey?

Hey guys just a quick question I can't seem to figure out. I'm about to order a Viper 791XV. To by pass the factory stuff I need to order either the

DIE 555LW - GM Passlock 1-2 module
or
DEI 555G - GM Passkey 3

but can't figure out which one I need for the 04 AV Z71 (truck isn't here yet but our employee deal ends on May 31st so I have to order it now)

also if any one knows, theres another peice I may need it's called

456G - 03 Gm Full Size Trucks, Cadillacs and Hummer Data Module
do I need this or anything else to install this

I took a quick look through the 2004 owners manual and it said it used the passlock system. Cant help with the other stuff.

Passlock 2 system.

Do not know what you mean by data module. Do you mean data link communications system? If so it is standard on all 03 and 04 Avalanches. This is the system that practically every section of the Avalanche uses to communicate from the door modules, radio, dic, and etc etc.

i'll order the passlock module

it's my understanding that some vehicles require the data module to allow after market alarms to function your door locks ect. I'm not 100% on this so I was hoping someone that has installed an after market system would notice tihs thread.

You will def. need the data module to do your 03 Avalanche. If you dont you will have to mount relays in the doors to oprerate the door locks. That is a big pain. I went with the crimestopper GM-U7 bypass module because its one module that bypasses passlock and interfaces with the databus system for the locks. I picked mine up at autotoys.com. http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/product.php?productid=253&cat=0&page=1It was very easy to install with the alarm and it programs itself. Just turn on the ignition and press the button on the module once installed. If I had it to do over I would buy the same module again. Hope this helps.

How did the install go? You shouldn't have to actually bypass the factory alarm functions, just supplement them with the aftermarket alarm.
