OK - I'm going to put this real simple in small words. Some person or persons have been calling General Motors in Detroit making requests from marketing groups and technical groups as a bona fide representative of the Chevy Avalanche Fan Club. :8:

I'm going to hope that this is the work of a misguided invididual or two and not a growing problem. The last time I checked we still didn't have bylaws or an appointed board of governors. That would make me the only bona fide representative of the club unless I knighted someone (as I do from time to time) to represent the club.

Real simple:

No one, and I mean NO ONE is to call General Motors or Chevrolet Headquarters looking for freebies, TSB's, press coverage, 2003 or 2004 information, or otherwise call their marketing department saying they are WORKING FOR the Chevrolet Avalanche Fan Club of North America. :8: :8: (dude, seeing how I don't even get a paycheck I don't see how anyone is working for this club)

:8: PERIOD :8:

If you're calling GM you're calling as Joe Citizen. Feel free to mention the club, feel free to mention you're a club member - DON'T feel free to say you WORK FOR the club or are a bona fide agent of the club unless you have that kind of authority. :6:

All requests to General Motors and Chevrolet marketing in Detroit should be channeled through me from this time forward. ALL! I have worked very hard over the last two months and with holes in my body over the last week to strengthen our relationship with GM. There are big things getting ready to happen and the last thing I need is some one with the best of intentions pissing off the marketing group and me getting my Grant of Permission yanked. Translation for the obtuse = NO MORE CLUB.

If you have an on going request with GM Detroit consider this an amnesty period to come clean and let me know what that is and I will take over driving it for you.

In the future if I find out anyone is calling General Motors or Chevrolet Detriot claiming to work for the club or as a bona fide agent of the club without that authority, THEIR ACCOUNT WILL BE PERMANENTLY REVOKED. :6: :6:

END OF DISCUSSION...

(As the scene ends, "Chief," looking fatherly storms off stage left and slams the door for effect...) :7:

Jessep (Guy who is calling GM): You want answers?

Kaffee/Chief (Tom Cruise): I think I'm entitled to them.

Jessep: You want answers?

Kaffee: I want the truth!

Jessep: You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.
We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!

Kaffee: Did you call GM as a rep of CAFC?

Jessep: (quietly) I did the job you sent me to do.

Kaffee: Did you call GM as a rep of CAFC?

Jessep: You're goddamn right I did!!

Kaffee/Chief: Remove this man's CAFC access rights!

OK I'll come clean .. I called and requested a "company" truck, a corner office, and that I start getting PAID to be a member of this club. ;)

They turned me away ... now is that any way to treat a customer and CAFCNA member ???

chief,

Did they give you aname that you could track? They should be able to pull phone records and track it to person that way as well.

Whom ever did this...."The Truth Shall Set Ye Free"

So fess up to the Chief...I am sure he will forgive you and keep it confidential.....

I have NEVER called or requested any freebies from the GM.

The only relationship I have with them, as you and gandolphxx know, is the media access I was granted to receive info/photography when the 2003 data was released on July 1, 2002 ... which I requested from their site through email. ?

All my other interactions are with dealerships themselves for promoting my cruises.

I represent myself as a Chapter Coorindator/Moderator and provide links to the club's Press Kit/Brochures which gives you all the history and credit you deserve.

I know that I don't work for the club since I also have never received a paycheck?;D

As in the classic movie "Rocketman"........

WASN'T ME!!!!(as he relieved the gas from his body) ;D

Nope not me, I can't even get the MYGMLINK.COM site to accept my VIN number, so I don't even own an AV according to them. I said, then it's ok to stop my payments, and they said, it doesn't work that way. I just never seem to win. Well, off the the store to buy another Lottery ticket.

Just my $.02 but I think it will be wise to keep it this way... forever, in fact, if you choose.

It's been my experience that web forums run so much smoooooooooooother when controlled by a supreme dictator that can toss out the riff-raff as required. When such turmoil occurs, two things happen.

1) Maybe half a dozen or so disgruntled members who disagree with supreme dictator leave the board.

B) Eight to ten weeks later, formerly disgruntled members suddenly become gruntled, return to the forum and all is well.

looking up "gruntled" . . . . ?:2:
The past tense of gruntle?

As in pacify, lenify, conciliate, assuage, appease, mollify, placate, gentle ... or maybe it means grunting ;D

As Mr. Bart Simpson made famous in one episode "I didn't do it"

I can only hope whoever made the call(s) had the best intentions and will hook up with Chief to flatten this issue.

We don't need the General and his troops upset with this group.

I seriously doubt Goo generated the issue that GM brought to Chief's attention . . . I also doubt that whoever did so had anything other than good intentions, but when negotiating/dealing with another party, it is absolutely necessary that we speak through one, consolidated voice.

Not to mention the fact that we all here at the pleasure (today displeasure) of the board owner and operator (that would be Chief) so he is entitled to insist that he and he alone speak on behalf of the CAFC.

These are, of course, JMHO

All who blame "Goo" say aye.....
Why don't you try reading the Chief's and my post more carefully before calling for a vote?

I never CALLED them or REQUESTED any type of freebies.

I completely agree he should be the sole voice to GM from this group.

When dealing with OTHER parties, we should ALL be careful how we represent ourselves. ?I know I am.

goo929 ?

>:D

I was just teasing about Goo!!!! I'm sure he would know better.....

Why so tense today??Is it still Monday????

Well, I don't think it was my phone call. ?After being on hold for about 25 minutes (at $2.68 minute) they finally answered the phone, when I made my now infamous statement, "Hi my name is Andrew and I am the founder of the CAFCNA - Australian Chapter, I understand I am entitled to a free Avy". ?They just laughed and said "You've got a funny accent" and hung up. ?As I heard the phone being hung up, I'm sure I heard someone in the background say "Billy, it's for you and he wants to know if you've got change for..." ?;D

Skidd ?7;)

The events described in this post are entirely fictious and any similarity between them and actual events is NOT TRUE!!

Note to the guilty party....DON'T F*%& (FOUL) IT UP FOR US!! We need our AV fix daily. We need it baaaaaaaaaaad! ;D

Come on guys... :6:
I really hope this was a one time event. If you're (the guilty party) that interested in GM info just read my posts in the GM forum. I try to put out the latest interesting news from inside our GM intranet.

I will also be glad to get specific information for any members that isn't readily available using my access to GM released information.

Beast ... I meant to put ;D on my POST too.

DON'T F@$# THIS UP FOR ALL OF US! THINK ABOUT THE CLUB NOT JUST YOURSELF! HAVE A NICE DAY ALL
