The purpose of the Oil Filter Relocation Kit is that it lets you move the filter off the engine block to a more accessible location in the engine compartment or wheel well.

I have been thinking about the dual filter relocation kit which would allow 2 filters to be used.

I didn't even know there was such a thing. Who makes it?

After just changing my earl for the first time, I can certainly see the attraction in one, plus a drainplug valve.

This is the one... Different websites sell this unit. Single or double. I will op for the double, so I am currently trying to figure out a suitable location.

I now have all the parts needed for this install. I will be doing it tomorrow at gdmunk's house in Toms River.

It will be a mini modding gtg. :B:

How much longer do you go between changes with the two filters? Does it last longer, I was assuming it would having 2 filters.

Thanks, I dont do my oil change as I found a local guy to do it properly and for $45 for Mobil 1. (y)

I usually change my oil when the computer tells me to. So, I will see how many miles it takes for this dual system and will post accordingly.

I do not think your truck will know it now has two oil filters and will not extend the the oil change period due to this. ???

Are the filters in parallel or series?

My $.02

Since there is 2 more quarts in the system, it may take longer for the system to say time to change the oil. I will be monitoring it as the miles add up. The filters are in series, some of the oil enters one filter then the remaining oil that passed the first inlet will then drop into the second filter.

I believe those duel filters are in parallel not series, if one becomes plugged the other will still flow?. And the computer determines when to change the based on your driving routines i.e. number of start / stops, towing, miles etc. ?Not the condition of the oil?

I have a kit, but have not installed it yet? Was waiting until I installed the lift as more room will become available for mounting....

I stated that they run in series only because the filters are next to each other in line. The oil flows into the bracket with a portion of the oil entering the first filter then the next. I will contact Perma-Cool for the answer.

As far as the computer making the determination, that is true, however, there may be a very slight chance that the extra amount of oil may help increase the span.

In any case, the dual system gives you the added benefit of 2 more quarts of oil, dual filtration of the oil and the cooling of the oil as the filters are remotely located and the lines from the engine block are exposed allowing air to cool the oil while driving. To sum up, the dual relocation kit is another way to extend the life of the motor

The supply and return or in / out are common to each filter. The computer only does what it has been programmed to do, it does not know if you have 1, 2 or 10 filters. It bases the intervals on the type of driving it sees. If you extend those intervals because you are using synthetic oil, increased filtration and better cooling, then that would be up to you?.

I agree with doing all of the above, I run synthetic (Royal Purple), I will shortly be relocating my oil filter, especially since the 2500 uses that short filter because of clearance. And like you stated that will increase oil capacity, and increase cooling by getting the filters out into the air flow? I?m also adding a pre-oilier that will allow you to pre-lube the motor before start up and make oil changes fast and easy? I have one on my boat and it works great?.. I will post some pics soon?..

Thanks

That's a very nice mod and it will certainly help to extend the life of the engine. However, I just wanted to say that the oil life monitor won't know the difference. It's really a very unsophisticated system which looks at mileage driven relative to the number of starts. It has no idea what the actual condition of your oil is.
