Can anyone tell me what exactly a PIE connector is? Can I use it on my 2003 Bose 6 disc? I have a FM modulator already hooked up for my Xm radio and I'm looking to run my audio for the PS2 through the radio also.

I would like to be able to have the kids listen to the PS2/DVD's through the rear radio headphones while I listen to the XM radio in front. Is this a possibility? If so how?

Thanks, ;D

Tribal, if you are using an FM modulator, you could always use RCA "Y" splitters/combiners to pump 2 inputs through your FM modulator. Of course, doing this, you'd only be able to modulate one of those sources at a time.

I think the PIE or PAC adapters all require slave units, things like factory XM or external 6 disc changer.

It is for slave inputs--XM or DVD factory units. If your unit came without either of these, you can't use the pie adaptor. Don't mean to bear bad news!!

This actually begs an interesting question...

What is it that lets the HU know there is a slave unit there?

Is it done through one of the BCM type computer modules in the car or is it done when the HU is set up? There must surely be a way of "waking" up the HU to let in know there is an accessory to run.

Actually, if Im not mistaken, the hu is slightly different in build (if you look at the lcd display and look at all the possible characters xm is not among them--although dvd is. The hu must have the ability to utilize aux inputs and, unfortunately, if yours didn't come with some sort of slave unit, your head unit is simply not compatible with anything else.

I hope someone is wrong.

I bought a PIE GM12 aux adapter for my '03 Avalanche.

My Avalanche has the 6-disc Bose with NO factory XM radio and NO factory DVD player.

I wanted to use the PIE aux adapter for an aftermarket XM radio and to hook audio up for my portable dvd player.

Are you telling me it wont work?

According to http://www.pie.net/appl_aux.pdf I am assuming that it will work...I mean my HU is "xm ready" or "cd changed ready" since it has an Aux button right???

All you need is the PAC AAI-GM24 since it is a stand alone part. It will give you two Aux Inputs.

See ya!
