Still contemplating doing the entire Av. Going to ride like this for a while and see how it hold up.

Calicak89 said:That was my plan. you can see the difference between the center caps and the whole Av. the center caps I sprayed w/ no thinner and they stayed jet black, but I was having trouble getting even, consistent coats on the stuff sprayed w/ the 2mm tip so I wanted to go down to the 1.5mm tip for the whole thing. in order to get even spray out of the 1.5, I had to use the thinner.

Be a good winter project, but with the truck being in and out of the garage and temps down to -35 celcius, would it have the proper temps to set, etc?

09chevyavy said:Actually it all depends. If its not super cold like that maybe springtime you could do it because I learned a trick with the dip. If you take the can thats been cold, put it in a container of water that is pretty warm and let it sit and keep switching the water to make it stay warm. When the dip if warm it gives a better spray pattern that is more even and a nice fine mist. Also, I noticed in about 45 degree weather it takes longer to dry compared to say 70 and up. So wait longer between coats as well, for me I made sure to wait until there were no visible wet spots on the painted surface. The difference was about 5 minutes longer to wait. But I wouldnt do it that cold. You could maybe try what wyotonka did and keep a space heater by it to make the area warmer. But dont start painting until the heaters been there for a while to make the metal or plastic or whatever surface a good bit warmer so it will stick and apply
