Plug In TV

Looks pretty nice but a little spendy for me. I have a 10" Color TV/VCR combo that I got where I work for about $20 (a customer return from our catalog but was new unused). I just plug in and sit between the back of the center console and the back seat. It angles upward at about 45?. The kids can watch any of their videos on road trips. They went through about 5 movies each on our Minnesota-to-Temple, Texas roadtrip a couple Christmas' ago. We will be using it again this Xmas road trip as well. I would love a DVD entertainment system, but would have a hard time justifying the expense. Especially as I leased my Av!

I really wonder how sturdy that thing can be just being plugged into an outlet. Sitting it one thing, but what about hitting bumps or normal turning? ???

I dont think reception would be that good on the TV side.
You could always install a large tv antenae in the bed :0:

I have to agree. I would think it would be hard to get good reception. When we had our Astro van, we simply bought a small TV with the VHS player in it and it came with the plug for the outlet. When we got the Tahoe, we used our laptop as a DVD player. Bubba fashioned a TV holder out of a wire milk crate. The crate sat on the floor on it's side, and then we put the laptop on it and kept it steady by using luggage straps! :) I am sure you could do the same with a small tv, or just do like Jamie and set it between the seats and console. I think this option might save you half of what the smaller TV costs.......UNLESS space is a problem and you would have 3 munchkins across the back, then you might have to go with something smaller. Another thought, that screen will be a LOT smaller, and your passengers might have a hard time seeing it! The larger screen is easier on the eyes!

I hope this helps!!

I have installed a 5" (looks bigger) TV/VCR deal. It was $199 at Sams Club. Comes in a portable bag with tripod-style stand so you can use it out of the truck. VCR is an el-cheapo Funai or the like (but is AC/DC with cords); the monitor head is okay. The unit comes with cigarette lighter connector that runs VCR and TV and a long cord to seperate the two (my VCR is under the R-R seat, TV is mounted (comes with velcro backing and adjustable strap) perfectly to the rear of the bench seat center armrest. Comes with two sets of headphones and splitter. The TV accepts Video and Audio in so you can hook up a DVD or Game System. The only downsides are the size (okay, so it's not 15") and no TV tuner (gonna go satellite anyway :) ) Overall, not a bad deal for $199.
