Greetings all:

OK, I was staring at the midgate on my AV, and pondering.

Would it be possible to create a "passthrough" hatch on the right side of the midgate. Nothing big, just something that you could open to carry some longer items, say 8-10 8' 2x4's, without folding down both rear seats and having to lower the entire bottom of the midgate. It would have to fold down towards the bed so as to maintain the watertight seal between the midgate and the bed when it was closed. Also, you don't want it to blow out if you're carrying something like mulch. You'd have to accomodate the rear window glass, and whatever else goes on around the inside of the midgate as well.

Why right side? I hate having to run the driver's seat up so I can fold down the rear seats. Us biggun's need all the room we can get.

Of course, I have no coceivable idea of how to actually do this, wouldn't even know where to start. But I know were to find brilliant people who just might! ;D

Any thoughts ???

You should do the rear headrest mod so you don't have to move the driver's seat up when you put the rear seat down.

It's a good idea, and you might want to flip through some of the stuff here in this thread to review a couple of thoughts about window storage and stuff.

I think Prince_FuFu was talking about this, but I think with his new baby it might have fallen from the priority list. I have not seen any pictures if it has been done.
