Nicely bought . Now, buy >2gallons of FluidFilm or Corrosion Proof 3000 or WaxOil (or equivalent) or get to a Krown Rust place, and start slathering that truck in “goo“. Chase the brake lines. Chase the fuel lines. Drill the doors and sills and inject goo. Coat the inner frame, the outer frame and suspension members and box. Ensure that it oozes goo from every orifice when the temperature hits 70o+. And repeat every Fall.Just got mine today!
2005 LT with 180k miles, mostly highway. Straight from Arizona up to NY, largely rust free! Needs some basic fluids and plugs changed otherwise fantastic shape.
What does the oil do? I'm a bit of a beginner when it comes to this stuffNicely bought . These trucks are worth preserving… or, spend $100K on their replacement
If the GMT800 platform has one fundamental weakness, it is in corrosion protection. These trucks rust up here in the Salt Belt. And if your truck (like mine is) is substantially rust free, it makes sense to spend a few hundred bucks a year to drench anywhere FeO2 can start. What does the oil do?
