I've towed my Vega with the AV and had no trouble. I now want to start taking my 88 Monte Carlo SS to shows on the car trailer. I see a lot of boats being towed here. Anyone towing a car? Trying to find out if I need to start using an equalizer hitch or sway control. Any ideas? My 2013 already has the built in brake control, sway control and towing package.

I would imagine you're wanting to put it on a trailer, not a dolly. I towed my Kia Forte with a dolly from Colorado Springs to Gillette Wy (about 430 miles) and it was boderline miserable. The tow dolly had a much wider track than the truck and liked to run in one rut in the pavement, so kind of offset behind the truck, we also hit 2 narrow construction zones and the dolly was bumping cones on both sides of the lane  (n)

Guess I should have mentioned that a do have an 18' open deck car trailer. Before I had my 2 Av's I towed with a 99 GMC crewcab 454 daully. I could tow anything with no issues. I no longer buy and sell muscle cars, so I was happy to switch to the AV platform. As I said, I have towed the Vega which only weighs 2800 lbs. The Monte comes in around 3800 lbs. I know that I can center the car on the trailer to level things out so not all the weight is on the hitch. I was just wondering what others have experienced towing cars. Been in the car hobby for decades and have seen a lot of different tow vehicles pulling race cars and such. One that always stuck in my mind was a friend that towed his Chevelle with a Blazer. He said it worked fine. I'm just thinking if that short wheel base and a 350 engine could do it, then the AV should be able to do a better job.

Didit and I towed my 03 Avalanche on a trailer with his 2013 Avalanche.  My Avalanche weighs about a ton more than your Monte Carlo so I think it would be very doable.

He's got much more towing experience so hopefully he will see this and offer his thoughts...

Jim this is my setup and I have a equalizer hitch with sway control. My Camaro is 3000 lbs. the trailer is also 3000 lbs. I wouldn't tow my hauler without the setup I have.

This might be the most interesting towing operation ever done by an Avalanche...

That is one of the coolest things I've ever seen an Avalanche do.  Totally awesome.  All those trucks to pick from and they pick the Avy.  Makes me proud.

We bought this last Sept... 2016 Forest River Cherokee 294BH, 36' length, about 7,700 lbs dry weight.
Towing it from K.C. to Gulf Shores, AL. on Thursday... first big road trip!

Nice trailer 05-49T6, good to see you putting your girl to work.

Built the carrier over the winter. First time using it. Prepping the jetski for paint. Taking it in to work to do a crack repair in the fiberglass.

The Avy is getting more of a workout than usual. We just bought a 2011 Forest River Cherokee Park Model Trailer 39P. The living sections is over 40' long and almost 45' from ball to bumper! The dry weight is around 9500lbs. As towed, I was over 10,500lbs. Towed it from dry storage to our house over 100 miles and it towed fine. This weekend I will be towing it to our mountain property which is around 70 miles with lots of hills. With how well everything went the first trip, I don't expect any issues. The Avy did great!

Thanks, It's more like a house on wheels. 2 bedrooms, full size fridge, large kitchen/dining area, porcelain toilet, bath tub, almost 350 sq ft of living space. We will be full time living in it while we build our house, so we wanted something nice and big.
