Gosh darn it they could have at least gotten the functionality of the Avalanche down right. YOU DO NOT need to remove the back window and/or cargo panels to lower the Midgate.

Gads I hate that - but it is a sharp looking ride in red!

Hey, thanks for posting those vids teksavy, I really appreciate it. I too had wanted to see that Trucks episode. I'd love to see an AV undergo one of TRUCKS! projects. I'm sure they could really show off some stuff, beefing up the already beefy 8.1 or anything else those guys could come up with, I'm sure it would be great.

thanks again

This is one of those I need to wait for a while before I wrote this posts. I was VERY dissapointed with the Trucks segment on the Avalanche. I don't think the Avalanche got a fair shake and personally I'm shocked the General went through with it as it was produced.

First off there was a strong hint of contempt on the Avalanche's styling on the opening of the segment. :6:

When they went to do the cargo area demonstration I was pretty excited. I figured they would pull the three hard panels and then drop the Midgate. But no - they told you that removing the window was required, and it sure made it appear that removing the hard panels were required too. That of course isn't true. :7:

OK, power from the 5.3 liter V-8 is fair? FAIR? Dudes - the Avalanche 1500 goes 0 - 60 in 8.6 to 8.9 seconds depending on the magazine you read. That's FAIR for three tons of stock sheet metal? FAIR?

They weren't very fair in explaining what came with the Z-71 off-road package either. It's a lot more than a "skid plate up front and a locker in the rear." :3:

I did agree about the factory rubber being a bit small for the size of the Avalanche - however I'm 99% sure that the advice to put on 33 X 10.5 tires is BAD advice because they'll rub. Boy if they don't I'm going down to the tire store tomorrow and upgrading.

Bottom line is I just don't think they gave the Avalanche an informed or fair review. They tried to come off positive, but it just felt like they were trying to explain the charm of a skunk, and holding it by its tail with one hand and holding their nose with the other. :7:

teksavy; Thanks for the videos... All that AV needs is amber DRL's... ;D

He may not of not of had all his facts straight but with Stacey David's comments of, " The Avalanche is one of most well round vehicles in the market" and "Go down to your Chevy dealer and check it out you'll be impressed", I feel overall it was a favorable review. ?

It was a road test not a commercial. ?Even in Motor Trend?s TOTY issue they took some shots at the AV.
