Posting about GTG's

I'm still confused about whats the big issue here.  If someone wants to go to a gtg in your state, then they can look in that states forums.  With a single post in a neighboring state that is pinned and locked, then every one else that lives 12 states away and doesn't give a flying rats butt about the gtg doesn't have 12 pages of new threads when some goober bumps every thread every day.

WOW, now that's a good way to keep members. Sorry, just think that is a bit disrespectful to those that want a big turn out for a GTG. Seems to me what what you are trying to say is that some GTG's are more important than others.

Maybe I am reading too far into it, just my opinion.

no disrespect, just my opinion.  I find my opinion no more disrespectful than the opinion of the ones who feel it necessary to clutter the boards with multiple posts about the same gtg.

When multiple posts are made in the mod/maint areas they are removed.  I see no reason for the gtg threads to be any different.  At least in the gtg sections you can at least post a link to the gtg in your state.

I read the posts in surrounding states especially if I am looking for a GTG to attend. If they post a link about that GTG in my state then I will know about it and go to there state to read and post about it.

IMHO it beats the crap out of reading 12 pages of posts about a GTG in one state just to find out that the GTG is NOT EVEN IN THAT STATE! (yes I have done that many times) It is a change and I know some people do not like change but it has nothing at all to do with trying to drive members away, it has everything to do with making it easier to find the GTG's. If you were looking for a GTG in Indiana would you look in the Kentucky state forum because that is where you live or would it make more sense to look in Indiana for a GTG there?

If there are a lot of members in your home state that are thinking about going to the same GTG that is out of state then please start a topic about "meeting up" or "travel plans" etc but the main talk about the GTG should be in the hosting state, makes more sense to me anyway.

Again, this is not my rule, it is supposed to be followed in all areas, I am just trying to explain some of the reasoning. It makes it easier for the mods to keep things where they belong and should make it easier for everyone to find GTGs in the state that they wish to attend.  I did not like it at first but it makes a lot more sense to me as I think about it.

I guess what I am really saying is that I agree with grnxnam.  >:D

I wasn't disagreeing or agreeing. I was stating the fact that it is disrespectful to call someone a goober for bumping a thread and that in turn tells the person who bumped it that their concern for the importance of the post is unappreciated and worthless.

The same can be said for other threads as well and not just GTG's. Look at how many jacked threads there are out there just because someone felt it necessary to comment on someone else's post especially with sexual type inuendos.

This seems to me be another way someone can control the situation.

... to call someone a goober ....

if the worst thing I'm called everyday is a goober, then I'm having a great day.

If anyone was actually offended or hurt by me calling you a goober, please accept my apologies for making you cry.  If you weren't hurt or offended... stick around.  your time is coming.  >:D

FYI, I was not agreeing with grnxnam calling anyone a goober.............

from one gooober to another I understand  :D

I hate when someone posts "BUMP" with no new pertinent information or remarks, we're almost all guilty of making trivial comments that move a thread back to the top so we are all goobers.
I'm sorry but the pure laziness of simply typing "BUMP" then Post irritates the snot out of me  :beating:
