Power steering issue at low rpm

2012 LS 4WD.

So, my avalanche recently developed a power steering issue, but only at low rpm. Mostly steering to the right, it just sticks, left doesn't really seem to be an issue.

I checked the power steering fluid and it doesn't look like it's low.

Am I just looking at a power steering pump replacement?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I just went through the same thing with my 2013. I let it got for quite a while and eventually the pump completely failed, driving a 6000 pound truck with no power steering is no fun. Replaced pump and all is well. Its not to bad of a job, hardest part was purging all of the old fluid out of the system to make sure no metal contamination was there since the fluid in the old pump had some shiny flecks in it. Used a hand vacuum pump connected to the return line to pull all the old fluid out, and kept doing it until the fluid coming out looked good.

Thanks for the response.

Was it difficult or pretty easy to replace the pump? Kind of considering getting my hands dirty and making it a weekend project or something.

Manual attached, including removal & installation of the pump. I'd also bet a paycheck there is a youtube video showing the same procedure on an Avalanche or basically identical Burb, Tahoe or Yukon too. You can do it!! Good luck man

I replaced the p/s pump on my 2004 EXT.

The most difficult part for me was removing and installing the pulley.

I have the proper puller kit, as well.

A couple of the mounting bolts can provide some challenges, as well.

While not overly difficult, I certainly would not call this repair easy, in any sense of that word.

But, it is certainly doable.

Hate to ask for double work, but I can't get that manual to download. Would you be willing to try uploading that again for me? I'd really appreciate it.

I sure can attach it again. However the original appears working to me...
