Poweraid TBS Ok With K&N FIPK ???

Besides notching the fan shroud, everything cool?

I remember installing a Helix TBS on my 5.3l Tahoe and there was an issue with the throttle cable...required some kind of braket to relocate or something like that.

Comments?

Thanks, Rod

OK,
Looks my other reply got blown away, sorry Rod...sh*t happens.
Anyways, The TBS and K+N FIPK Gen 2 is a bad combo fit wise. The intake tube of the k+n is the same size as the throttle body. The UPD intake tube fits around the throttle body which saves about one to one and a half inches(big difference). Since I had both kits, I used them both. I've got the UPD intake tube mated to a small piece of the K+N that I cut. I know someone else cut the intake tube on the K+N kit to get it to fit with a TBS (no UPD). You can do a search for it, he's got pictures (maybe helmut?). Here's pics of my new custom UPD and FIPK intake.

Well that bites the big one! :6:

thanks for replying. I guess I should just settle on the HPIII for now and focus on the tranny and then ultimately get the whipple.

Thanks again!

So if I'm understanding this right, I shouldn't have a problem with the UPD intake, and the TBS??
Right, The TBS and UPD will fit with just notching the fan shroud.

I need to obtian the air intake that you used to finalize the K&N FIPK. Can you tell me where to get this part? I am not familiar with UPD. I have the Poweraid TBS and the FIPK half way installed using the factory intake. A guy at NAPA said I could use a fan spacer to fix the problem ( YEAH RIGHT).
Any help will be appreciated.

I personally have the upd and i didnt need to notch the fan shroud. it fit right up against the fan shroud with no problems.
