Yesterday I went and got a price quote on having a lift kit installed on my Av. I was only doing it for giggles and grins but the price I got was very depressing and seems out of line.

4" Ranchero lift kit with adjustable shocks (nine settings manual, sorry can't remember by who)

Really nice forged Craggar rims 16" with simulated bead lock look (these were $280 a pop)

BFG T/A KO 305/70R16 tires

Installed, alignment, mount, balance, shop stuff, exhaust modification, taxes.

Drum roll please...

$5,281!

Suddenly getting a 4" lift from the dealer for $3,500 with replacement rims looks like a good deal. :6: Could have bought a red one with painted cladding out of the box like that.

Ugh - $5,281 seems, well it seems pretty darn high to me. Thoughts, observations? I want a quality set up if I'm going to do it, but this is over $1,500 more than what I expected...

I recently had my AV lifted here in CA. I decided to go with my Chevy Dealer because as long as I bring it to him, I will not have any warranty issues. I went with a 6" RCD, American Eagle 16x8 Wheels and BFG AT/KO 295x75xR16. Here is the tally.

Lift, Install, Alignment, etc. $2542
Tires, Wheels, Lifetime Balance and Rotation $1400
Full size spare with cheap wheel $200

He also installed my nerfs for free at the same time.

Install also included a torque check and inspection at 500mile, 1500mile and 5000miles.

Seems High to me chief. I payed about 4400 for lift and 4 sets of wheels/tires.

Keep looking around or buy the stuff off the net and then have them install.

A 6" Rancho lift with Centerline rims and tires runs around $4k-$5k in the San Diego area, sometimes less, and sometimes more. It depends somewhat on what they happen to have in stock and what options you want to go for. I'm not sure what the dealers charge around here though.

I went and got a quote from a place here in Colorado and my quote was about $5,500 and that included a gibson exaust and it was a Rancho 6' lift. I was also looking at Crome rims 17'. Lets see what else. Oh those rims where about $320 a pop too. I was also going to get larger tires too i think 35's. I would say that you are getting ripped off with that quote. I had some other things on mine too. I just can't remember what. Here in Colorado you can buy a Av straight off the lot with a 4' lift but they tack on $8,000 to the price of the truck.

If I could get an Avalanche with a four FOOT lift for an $8,000 addy I'd be on it so fast! :2:

OK, OK - I know you meant four inch but I couldn't resist!

My first question is why an exhaust mod. Chevy's havn't need exhaust mods since 98 when the body style changed. Second question is shop fees. Sounds like somebody is getting charged for hand cleaner and shop towels!!!!Last 6" Fab-Tech lift we did with Centerline Wheels, 35" BFG A/T's and a power programmer was under $4000.00 with tax and all. the Dave

Here is a PIC. Not the greatest PIC, but it was from my trip to Pismo Beach Dunes a couple weeks ago.

Thanks. I have seen several PICs of yours and I like your bigger tires. Your AV looks awesome, to. I think most AVs look much better lifted. Just my opinion. I like the agressive look.

That is why I have been bugging you to go offroading sometime. I love it, but have no one to go with. I am to nervous to go it alone.

We will have to try and get together some time soon...

I haven't been out since Halloween and I am going through withdrawl symptoms

Just have to find the time... :6:

I think I'm getting a pretty good deal. Off the top of my head I am going to be paying around $3500 for lift, tires, rims, labor. I would not buy my tires and rims from them because I was able to buy 305/70/R16 Goodyear Wrangler MT/R's for $172 dollars a tire over the net. These tires cost $220 at a local retailer. I got the rims for about $125 each. Not a bad deal....took me awhile to find these prices....but it was worth the wait!

Well I got my AV lifted last week and can't wipe the smile off my face.
Paid $4000.01 at 4WP for the Rancho 4"lift, X-tream Alloy 1879 16x8 wheels and Pro Comp 305/70x16 MT. All installed, alignment and tax...

Well worth the investment for me.

Also got a deal on the HP111 for $312...

Well I guess I got a pretty good deal also. Went to Hi Dust 4x4 in Norfolk and ordered my lift, wheels and tires. total price $4022.95 installed complete.

Then they asked if they could have my AV for 3 days in May to show it at the Virginia Beach Show & Shine. I said sure ;D

Will post pictures after it's done.

Avking - your truck has a real nice stance, I like it a lot. :)

Chief, with my findings, that's about the average price in New England too.

I got a SUPER deal on the lift install for my last truck. $1200 or so for the lift, and $500 for 4 days worth of installing. (they were a Jeep shop, and this was their first IFS lift) All other shops want to charge by the hour for this stuff.

I went with steel (custom made, high backspacing) RockCrawler rims @ $200 for 5 of them, and the ultra cheap Interco TrXus tires for $104 a pop.

I know people who lifted my old kind of truck, and they did theirs in a garage in a 12-14 hour day, with ALL the tools available. Air, heat, plasma... :cautious:

On the NASCAR pre race show tomorrow in Califonia, 4-27-03 they will show Robby Gordon"s 03 AV he's put a lift on. Should be pretty wild
