Going on now in New Castle. We have at least one member who works there, are you OK Grammy? Arizona transfers inmates to Indiana and I am hearing that these inmates are not happy to be that far from home, they have been threating riots for weeks.
Mayor Tom Nipp calls the disturbance, "A full-scale riot." Nipp says police have set up a perimeter around the prison, assuring residents that no one has escaped.
From Chopper 13, you can see fires burning at the prison. Hundreds of prisoners are outside. Jeremy Brilliant is flying overhead in Chopper 13. He says the fires appear to be mattress fires.

Thanks for the concern Butch, it's comforting to know so many people care. I've have lots of calls today asking me if I was safe. I'm fine. I wasn't scheduled to work today or tomorrow. I heard about the riots from a phone call asking if I was okay. I was in Richmond shopping. I called the facility to see if they needed more help but they had it under control by the time I called. Arizona inmates have been threatening to riot since they got there, they're used to calling the shots at the AZ facilities and it doesn't work that way here. They're mad because they've been moved so far from home without any warning. Indiana inmates are just as upset because AZ inmates have different rules and guidelines to follow than IN inmates and they feel they're being treated unfairly. Only two officers were injured and their injuries were minor. K9APR (James) is at the facility now doing traffic control for Henry Co. Emergency Management. He called me a few minutes ago and said everything was starting to calm down.
