Sometimes mine shifts slowly out of one gear to the next, I just figured it was normal, also was afraid to have the dealer mess with the tranny. What did they do to yours? Is it fixed? I only have the problem every now and then so I figured they wouldn't be able to duplicate it anyway. Suggestions?

What type of problems?

Serious minor? details please....

17,000 miles . Pass. side mirror hairline crack(both times horizontal, shaped like sinewave) happened twice! Did nothing to cause it. Third mirror holding after 7months. One mirror, the driverside original is orange, the replacement is black, go figure. Am going to leave it so I can identify (too many AVs just like it!). Mine is not special!

Other that the mirror problem, i can't shut tailgate without taking off one of the panels OR dropping midgate and having a window open!! :8:

:B:2002 Victory Red Z-71 4.10 Grey Buckets Sport Leather Convenience Group Born 10-01. Roared since new between 45-55 on decelerate. At 10,000 dealer found metal filings in rear end and replaced ring and pinion and bearings. Helped some on noise. Poor quality control at dealer as mechanic left emergency brake cable rubbing rear tire and rubbed about half of line off. The front bowtie replaced flaking off. Radio locking up as if power failure. Fixed per some bulletin from dealer (two wires in same connection) Worked. Not too bad for a new design and early production.

Still love it anyway. CHEVY FOREVER !!

Sunset Orange 2500/3.73 rear. Born 04/02, purchased on 08/02. Minor problems-- Gas fillups, Clock lost time only twice. Now has only 1700 miles in Massachusetts.
Keeping fingers crossed!!!

I bought a '02 [Aug '01] that was green and had sport cloth interior. I have had major appearance problems up until Sept '02 when I purchased a '03 Grey Avalanche. The '02 had overspray from the factory and the roof was not completely painted. So the roof & hood had to be repainted and the right side of the vehicle had to be wet sanded to remove the overspray. I have replaced the rear driver side door molding due to it not staying glued to the door. [ 10 times replaced]. The rear window has been replaced due to the insulation cracking at the corners. The weather striping around the midgate had to be replaced due to water leakage in to the interior of the vehicle. The sport cloth on the front seats had to be replaced due to wearing out, the black color was being rubbed out and fading. A new passenger mirror had to be installed and repainted because the paint shop messed up the black molding around the mirror. The black outline plastic strips at the bottom of the passenger side windows had to be replaced 4 times each because of imperfections in the material and the service department would put them in anyhow and I would tell them not good enough. The driver side step had a big gouge in it and it was replaced. Then in August '02 I noticed the paint on the roof and hood started to have discolorations. I went down to the dealership, traded it in and bought a '03 just the way I wanted it. Some minor cladding scratches, no paint imperfections at all. The dealership is fixing the cladding problems. I love the Avalanche style and my dealership has fixed almost all of my problems. I have had no mechanical problems except the AC not really cooling like I think it should.

12-01 Bought May-2002 450 miles. After reading some of these post's I am afraid to get it wet, look in rear view ( for smoke ), never look at garage floor ( oil leaks ) after pulling it out, ( yes, I do move it at least 1 a month ) I have owned 4 "new" Chevy's and ONLY (1) came and went with no problems (1989-S-10 65,000 miles it truly was " Like A Rock :B:". So I shall say a prayer every night that my dream Z71 will not turn into a Nightmare ( and run over some service manager ) Amen.

Welcome to the club Law1....I have had no problems so do not worry! >:D

mine was built 7-02 and the tire rod came loose w/in 15 miles of the dealership...i thought it was just a bumpy road...anyhow...i had to get it towed an hr later when i figured out something had to be going on...the dealerships said they had to jack it up and turn the wheel straight like 5-7 times to get it around the lot and onto the ramps...they sent pictures of this problem to gm...and they were relieved that this problem was solved before it caused an accident or injury...and since then...no complaints...
