only con I see...is wax build up.....and PIA of install....and maybe cost.....

also if it gets marked up how hard is it to remove?

I've been thinking about putting some down between the the stiffener ridges on the roof so that I can toss mag mount antennas, ect. up there without having to worry about trashing the paint.

I had it installed on my Av and I am lovin' it, to steal a phrase form McDonald's. It has saved me twice with fairly large stones hittingit an only a small mar on it. The wax buildup is no real issue because all you have to do is take a credit card and go along the edge to clean it. Cost can be a little high, mine was $450 for parts and installation, but it is worth it IMHO. Got it on my wife's Highlander and am also very satisfied.

I have heard from a co-worker (I have no actual expierence) who has a 4 year old beamer that he had the clear flim put on at the dealer during purchase. The clear film got a nick and he bought the car in to have the film replaced. Apparenlty when the dealer removed the film, it pulled paint of the hold, leaving exposed primer. Dealer paid for repairs.

had 3m film applied to front of my 04...also had
on other vehicles...worked well for me but it is
more noticable on lighter colors than dark for
some reason...when i got a rock chip right thru
film (8mil) i was still able to apply touch up paint
to cover with reasonable results. pricey but works
ok for me

It sounds like a good way to go ! I'm gonna have it done on Monday at the dealership where I bought my AV. They're pinstiper that they do business with is doing it for 150 dollars. He says that he buys the 3M film bulk. Hes giving a 2 year warranty and says that he will remove it if any problems.

I put it on my AV just after I bought it an I luv it. It has saved alot of rock chip damage plus I use the brush on it at the car wash when I am cleaning the bugs off. I also had it installed on the painted part of the mirrors which seems to collect alot of bugs too. Downside is u can see the line where it stops about 12" from the front but I would recommend it (y) BTW I had it done for $120 CND at trimline.

By the time I saw this on the credit guy's from the dealership truck it was 'too late' for mine. There were already some chips. They use sand and some 'stones' in winter. The highway I drive every day is murder on the paint. I plan at some point to do a pearl black and purple fade paint. When that is done I will apply the film to the whole front end

he's right about the PIA install. my friend got InvisiGaurd stuff for his DuraMax. the problem he ran into was that it recommends professional install. then the body shop he takes it to messes it up. why. they never did it before. he had to fight a little with them for a replacement.
i'm thinking if they do not have experience with the stuff why offer to do the job? they finally got it right. after about two tries. can't say i have seen it after a wax or two. i would imagine wax would build up along the edges.
