For those of you that have "mini me" Avalanches like the matchbox one. Do you leave them in the package, take them out or buy multiples and leave one in the package?

I have several out of the package. Right now the only one I have still in the package is the original one that GM sent with the literature, It's red, I think the company that makes it is Maitso or something like that. I'll never take that one out of the package but I have take the matchbox ones out.

What do you folks do?

-Mark

Some of mine are out of the packaging, some are in. It's no fun if you can't play with them ;D

The oringal one that GM sent me (red Maisto) is still in the package. I'm not planning on ever opening that one.

On last week's Ohio cruise I got two 1/24 models. Neither one came in a box. However, one I'm going to protect and leave as is for any possible "collector value." (Might put it in one of the wife's beanie baby clear boxes.) The other one I'm going to "mod" to match my real truck.

Any future ones I'll prpbably get two: one to preserve, and one to mod. Maybe I'll need a third so I'll have one to "play" with! ;D

Well, I guess I should 'fess up........I have one $20 R/C by Nikko that I terrorize my dog with ( actually, it hardly fazes her anymore ), and I have 2 Welly 1/18, which I've opened up, untied, unbolted, and cleaned up (Zaino!), then screwed back in and leave in the box. I just scored the Muscle Machines 1/64 and 1/43 sets, which I haven't taken out (yet), one oddball Bully, and then there are 2 dozen or so Matchbox models.......(Hey, at .66 apiece how could I not?) they're divided: 15 are in their blister packs, the rest are scattered all over - on top of monitors, in my desks at home and work, in the 1:1 Av, all over. I've given away a few as gifts ( the unholy NJ trio, and Beach in Delaware ), and the only ones left are 2 Tonka and the Chevy Fulfillment Services one, and they will stay in the packaging.

Her's an interesting question. What is the smallest AV collectible. Is it the matchbox? And what is the biggest (besides the 1:1 Z-66) is it the 1/16 RC? :B: I cant wait to see if LEGO might make an AV!!!

I buy two whenever possible so I will always have one in prime collectable status and one to open up.

Actually, I doubt Lego will make one. They have made ANY real car models yet. If only they knew what a market they have for Lego Avs on this site.

lightbg, that's a HUGE collection! I'd love to see some pics of them all in one place. ;D

I have a whole bunch of models from Welly, Matchbox, DUBS, and New Bright. I highly doubt they are worth "saving" and leaving un-opened. I'd much rather have them on display and to play with ;D

I have 10 "mini me' AV and they are all open. The first thing I do when I go to the store is look for an AV.

The items I have that are rare or considered very collectible, I do not open. These would be the Maisto promo Av from GM, the green Matchbox with the 50th anniversary stamp on the hood, Olympic Torch Run edition.

I do have some others where I bought more than one in order to keep or sell later.

NJAV,

You should be able to stock up yourself now, since KB bumped the price back up to .99 from .66. However, the school I teach at in Elizabeth has a group plan for BJ's Wholesale, and I jumped in. The first thing I did when I got my card was drive to Scotch Plains on Rt.22 and as soon as I walked into the store, there were at least 15 of the 1:6 scale New Bright R/C Avs there for $99.97........the box has a cut-out on it that says "try me", and I stood there playing with the remote, listening to the motor sounds, watching the led's blink with the steering, and then I took out my wallet, looked inside, came up short, and sighed as put it back..........I think I'm having toy withdrawal...... :cautious: :6:

Have you tried the BJ's on 1/9 in Linden.....I frequent that store often but have yet to see the Av r/c....I can't believe I missed out this long.....I thought they would be pretty scarce or far inbetween.... :B:

Hey Lightbg, sounds like it's time for a road trip. I let my BJ's membership expire years ago when I got a Sams card. Sams only has the F-150 Harley Edition.
