Question On The North Face Edition

Does the North Face edition have power memory seats. I have yet to check out a North Face edition on a dealer lot and when I do the cutomize rig on the GM site it only allows for the power seats that do not have memory. I love the North Face Editon but really need the power memory seats for my wife and I. I am 6'2" and she is 5'4". Let me tell you I have bange my knees many times getting in after she has driven our other vehicles. Hope soon to be among the Av owners. :)

Dude - the North Face Edition isn't worth it IMHO (oh boy, I'm sure I just opened up a debate on this one).

Power memory seats and seat warmers are not an available option on the North Face Edition Avalanche. IMHO your better off getting a 1500 4WD Z-71 with all options - the sticker price is $38,571. The North Face Edition is around $39.6 and for the extra $1.1 K you get white gauges (they DO look sharp), the North Face interior, badging, backpacks, and two water duffalo bags. However in the equation you lose RWL tires, memory seats, and heated seats. For me the memory/heat was more practical than the look of white gauges and backpacks.

Just my opinion - but you can't have North Face and memory seats too

:(

Well that was my thoughts as well....I didnt realize about the heated seats either. For me, the need for memory seats are greater than not. I just wanted to confirm this. I wasnt sure if this was the right forum but it did say answers.

It was more of a Chit Chat issue but that's OK - you asked a question and got the answer!

Well, of course you're entitled to your opinion. ;)

I liked the Medium Sage Green color, and so I got TNF edition. Sure, the package is, all things considered, a bit silly, but I don't think it's that big a deal :).

And no, it doesn't have memory seats.

Peace,

I personally didn't get the North Face Edition because of the seat issue. I just thought the North Face should have everything plus the North Face logos. I wonder if the seats were an oversight? Just doesn't make sense to me.

I'm with ehahn. I have TNF and for me the lack of heated and memory seats is minor. Besides all the other qualities of the AV, what was really important to me was the sage green exterior color and the green seats. Kind of fits my shooting and hunting lifestyle, I guess. It was difficult to find a dealer with a sage TNF to see what it looked like. But when I found one, I knew I was getting an AV. Isn't it interesting how different folks have different tastes.

Well my two cents, I just got the TNF Sage Green and what sold me was the light cluster and the interior look. I live in California, so the butt warmer is not important, the wife will never drive this thing too big for her, she has the VX Bug and loves it, thus the memory thing was no big deal. The part that I am most disappointed about is the lack 4.10 option for the axle.

BTW I got mine for 2k below invoice, My dealer had 80 Avs on lot and had a major blow out sale just to move inventory.

Hmm, the 4.10 axle is definitely possible with TNF. You might have passed up on the 4.10 because you bought from dealer stock. Maybe he wasn't being totally honest with you (I'm shocked! Shocked!)

My Sage Green Metallic TNF has the 4.10 axle - ordered from the factory like that, and shows up on the Monroney sticker.

Hope this doesn't cause you too much heartburn...

Oh sure just kill me, I am heading to the dealer today as a matter of fact I may need to have a few words with the boy.

I have already started looking at changing the air filter and adding some performance options.

4.10 rear-end is available on ALL Avalanche models in any trim level. Further, the option is free. The competition usually charges for the different axle (why I don't know it's not like they are installing two axles).

I'd go yell at your dealer if they told you it was not available. I don't understand salesmen so hot to close a deal that they are willing to risk creating long-term bad will. That's my cynical view, the reality of the matter is they probably didn't know. Personally I don't know how a Chevy car salesman can keep track of all the different flavors - Cavelier, Malibu, Impala, Blazer, S-10, Tahoe, Silverado, Avalanche, Suburban, Camaro, Corvette, Trailblazer, Tracker, Metro...

Hey I got the Chief replying, cool.

Basically I have no recourse. It would be nice to swap it out but then the gearing has to change, etc.... you might as well buy a new at that point.

Is there anything that I can do to get more power out of it. I guess on the bright side, my mileage should a bit better.

Oh just kill me, get it over with, I feel like an idiot, I feel hosed, I really wanted to the 4.10, but my desire to get the Av on sale pushed me over the edge, darn, I don't think I could feel any lower about my new purchase as I do now.

Nuts!!!!!.

P.s. how do you quote text from another message?

Next to the subject line in the message you want to quote there is a link that says, "Quote."

Click on that link and the quoted text is inserted into the message box of your reply.

No big deal, I try to answer as many posts as possible, but it is getting VERY hard to do now. I wouldn't worry that much about your purchase. You got the Avalanche $2K below invoice (very sweet - around 33K or 34K I would guess depending on how that NF is equipped).

If you're not towing lacking the 4.10 rear-end isn't the end of the world. It's a learning curve (as it is for all of us). For example I bought a Lund bug shield BEFORE I started this website. Nothing against the Lund, I love it - but had I know now what I didn't know then, I would have gone to GM Parts Direct.

We're just happy to have you here - there is a great bunch of folks here with a ton of good information.

Well here is some info for you,

I went to the dealer today to wrap some loose ends like which OnStar package and scheduling an appt withg service to have them walk through the engine and tour of the service department, meet the techs who would work on Av etc...

Well the Service manager said they could change the gearing and reprogram the computer if I wanted the 4.10. He figured it would cost 750.00.

I may do it, he is going to call me and let me know for sure.

Since your vehicle is new, I would raise HELL (excuse the expression please) and tell them to eat the costs of changing out the rear end or eat the whole vehicle. At the very least, they could eat the labor and sell you the parts at cost. After all, it was their fault you didn't get what you wanted. I do believe you that you could get them to pay for this or demand another Avalanche with the 4:10 rear end. It does pay to stay on their case as long as you can do it peacefully. Good luck. When I bought my Avalanche, I had to find out a lot of things myself, but at least the salesman will know next time. I do believe the dealer should do what is right if they want a returning customer.
