:cry:My first problem! (3K miles)
3 times now, I have started my AV, and the stock am/fm radio will not come on. It appears as if it has reset. I then have to turn it on again. The time is at 1:00 everytime, but the stations are still programed properly. I ignored it the first couple of times, but now it is getting annoying. I know it is very intermittent and I cannot reproduce it at will, so I think the dealer will waste alot of time on it. One of the times it gained 1 hour also.

I noticed several posts about this, but they were all in different threads. Has anyone had any luck getting this fixed?

I had a similar problem with my clock. It happened twice a while back, but hasn't happened since. Don't know what caused it or why it stopped. Sorry I'm not much help.

I have noticed that my clock changes time when I plug in my GPS into the right hand located 12V outlet.
Do you have anything plugged in?
By the way, my phone doesn't do this.

I think you might have a defective radio. If it was a loss of power (pinched wire, etc.) you would also lose your radio stations. I would get it changed under warranty...

I had the exact same problem on my 2000 Suburban (same radio). I never lost my station presets, but clock kept re-setting. They never told me specifically what the problem was, but they replaced the radio under warranty, no problem. I would get it in to the dealer. They had to order the radio and they called me a week later to have it installed.

I will try to get the dealer to replace it. I just hate to leave my AV with them for a day. They just won't take care of it like I will.
Thanks!

I had the same problem with my radio, had it replaced Ill attach a TSB hope it comes threw If it doesnt come threw email me at riegerr@agr.gc.ca
Good luck

My av radio has lost track of time one time as well. Here is what is unusual is that all four doors locked themselves as well.

Thanks for the TSB. My radio ?did this early on but has settled down after the first couple of months. Armed with the TSB I think I'll have it replaced!

Mine did the other day when I was unloading motorcycles off the trailer in a BAD thunderstorm.... I thought maybe some RF from the lightning did something... I kinda got a kick out of it, until now... now it's just some 'boring' bug. :( ;D

Add me to the list of lost timers. 3rd time the radio has forgotten it was a playing a CD when it was shut off and the time is way, way off. Guess it's another trip to the dealer, and back into a f*cking metro.

So, mine lost time for the second time yesterday. IS that the tell-tale signe I bring it in for replacement then?

Jamie

I was just reading this post last night, thinking I must be one of the lucky ones. ;D

Low & behold, it got me today. It reset the time to 1:00. Go figure. ???

Maybe, I shouldn't be reading the Problem threads?

Well, it happened to me twice in the past 2 weeks. The second time was after I "activated" TheftLoc. Now not only do I have to reset the clock, I have to pull it out of deep-TheftLoc-sleep.

Guess I may actually have to visit the dealership. They need to test it out even though I quoted the posted TSB.

My problem isn't the time, but features like the EQ setting. I can change stations and it resets itself. I can leave it on the same station and turn it off and it resets itself when I turn it back on. Oh well, just have to get it looked at by the service dept. Thanks for the TSB.

Mine's reset time maybe twice that I can recall. But I've also had the radio lock me out. I stopped at a gas station to grab a drink and when I got back in, the radio wouldn't play until I entered the security code. Also, I've seen it switch brightness from low to high with an audible "click" numerous times.

Feh. Now I've gotta find time to get to the dealer.

There is an easy solution to this problem - slow down.

As you drive faster and faster, and as you approach the speed of light, even though time appears to be passing normally for you, it is racing by for others. If you drive at the same speed as everyone else, you will see that time will pass at the same rate.

Now I don't have room to put all of Einstein's calculations in one post, so you'll have to take my word that the physics are correct. ;)

MonkeyPull....If your calculations are correct..we all need to sloooooow down and drive at a nice speed to show off our AVs..! :) My clock is fine so far. Haven't tried the CD.

Well, I guess I am part of this group now. And right before I start modding the stereo system too. The console is out and I am currently awaiting my SnapOn man to bring me the correct socket so I cn take out the seats...

Wonder if the dealer is going to try to blame the aftermarket equipment before testing things out? I don;t want to put the truck back together just so that they can tell me to come again when it acts up. I understand what they have to do to get re-paid from GM, but I hate having to wait....

Grrrrr....

BTW, I had to look for 30 minutes before finding this thread, with the following info. So I tought I would add it here so others can more easily find the thread.

Radio losing memory
radio loosing time (I know, but the easier to find, the easier to not create a new thread)
radio resets
radio resetting
time reset

As far as the click and brightness change it may be your headlamps coming on causing the click and the interior backlighting to dim.

My radio seems to function fine so far - this is one club I would just as soon stay out of :cautious:

Do you use to search feature and type in key words - this should not take 30 minutes to find a thread concerning anything that has already been discussed.

Yeah, but I didn't have the correct string to type in (Radio losing time), that is why I added some search strings at the bottom of my message. Typing in the ones I listed did nto bring up the thread I needed :-(

Add me to the list also (clock resetting, stereo shutting itself off, and AM radio volume coming and going from speaker to speaker), but I have done a major mod to the stereo (in the form of 2100 watts of power!). I was going to keep the factory radio so it would still look stock (like any of us care about that!), but now I'm leaning towards a new DVD/CD combo unit. I don't think I'm taking it back to the dealer. I'd rather not have them see what's 'under the hood'. ;)
