Anybody out ther in Avalanche Land kknow how to increase the sensitivity for the Rain Sensing Wipers? I see some others have the same issue I have, which is the wipers won't come on in "sensing" mode unless the windshield is so full of water you can't even see out of it, and sometimes, they don't come on at all.

I hate to take it to the Dealer if there's a potentiometer on the unit that can be tweaked easily.

The intermittent wiper settings on the stalk set the ?sensitivity? of the Rain Sense System.

I have to set mine to the highest level just to get the system to work halfway decent.??

IMO the Rain Sense System on the Av sucks. The system on my GMC Envoy works 100% better than my Av...for $10k less.??

Thanks for the reply, mine barely work work with sensitivity set to MAX on the turn signal stalk. I'm thinking there must be another adjustment, maybe at the sensor on the windshield itself. If I can't find out any more, it'll just have to go back to the dealer, but that's a pain in the ass.
Thanks again

Hope you have better luck than me.

I complained about it last year?the dealer sprayed a hose on my windshield and said it was working perfectly normal. Crazy me for thinking they would tell me any different.

But hey, I sat in the service department for an hour and got my truck washed for free.? :beating:

I bet the one on the Envoy is the same as the AVY...

not like GM would design 2 or more systems to do the same thing....??

Could very well be the same, but certainly doesn?t ?work? the same?very noticeable difference in system ?responsiveness? on the Envoy.

Could be different sensor manufacturer or different programming or both. I?ve talked to several ?07 Av owners that notice the Av system is very slow to respond to changing rain conditions.?

As a reasonable and common sense individual myself, I, personally would agree with you wholeheartedly, however, being a tier 1 vendor to the big 3 in Detroit has taught me one thing about automotive mentality:
Why make just one, when you can make 2 at 3 times the price, and at  a lower quality.

I, will however get this figured out, one way or another.

I wasn't impressed early on the the rain sense...  went in for the battery drain update ...  gave them the software update referred to by the http://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web ... to fix phantom swipe (but mentions other 'clean ups')

And I have to say, they are acceptable...

Wow..first you don't have to expel 1/10 of a calorie to turn the headlights on and now you can save another 1/10 of a calorie not putting the wipers on  ??? Man, that's it. I am trading in my labor intensive 03 in

:kidding:

I agree that they were sucky to start with I have had the update to the software mentioned above and they are much better. I have an 02 TrailBlazer and the equipment looks the same, however the sensitivity  on the TB is much higher. Which is good and bad. I am much happier with the AV sensitivity sense the update.

Steve841, thanks for the Software Info. I think that is probably my best course of action at this point.

I'll get it to the Dealer and see what happens.
