I just purchased my 02 Z71 w/ 11K miles on it. First thing I did on the suggestion
of one of the mechanics at the dealership was to install a leveling kit raising the
front end up almost 3" to match the diff in rear wheel well. I love the look and
the extra height in the city. Cost installed was about $300.00 + a front end alignment
of $70.00 at Firestone. The front end dip has always bothered me but thats just my opinion.
Not sure the exact name of the kit but Jet Chevrolet in Federal Way, WA parts dept can help.
I'll post a pic soon. Love my new AV. :B:

The leveling kit you refer to are replacement torsion adjusters or "clocks". They are a GM part and raise the front end by repositioning the angle the clock has in relation to the torsion bar. Only problem is you are not really lifting the truck, but, only increasing the preload beyond what the oe clocks can do. It has a tendancy of making the front end a little bouncy and harsh over small pavement bumps depending on how much preload is added. It also can be difficult to get the alignment to factory specs sometimes. It is really a crap shoot as to whether it will work to your satisfaction. Watch for inside shoulder wear on you front tires. IFS (independent front suspensions) have a tendency to wear shoulders anyway, so keep you tires rotated. I recomend every oil change.

Nothing wrong with making it level you just went the wrong direction ;D JK I got it looks great.

do we have part numbers of this Kit or new "clocks"?? Just don't want to put F@RD parts on my baby thats all. What about longer shocks? would that stop the pogo stick condition you speak of?

I simply [and cheaply] cranked up the torsions all the way up for a free 2" lift. This nearly leveled it out.
The ride didn't change hardly at all. I was lucky enough that the alignment didn't change either!
Happy cranking...

I'm really bothered by the rack look on my Z71. I know cranking the torsion bar will tighten things up. I'm figuring that I need at least 2-3 inches to level the front. This seems to be alot. I don't want a 3 inch lift and spend a $1,000+ just to level thing off.

I also don't want to loose any off road ability. I think by cranking the torsion bar this will effect handing, how the AV will handle large ruts on accent and decent.

Can torsion bar be cranked too much?
Can you get larger torsion bars?

The salesman that I bought my AV from gave me the number to a shop that is GM certified to do susension and lifts. This will save me alitte bit $ by not going thru the dealer and I'll check again on this, would not void any warrentees.

If anyone can post a link on more about torsion bars and leveling the front end up please paste it here. Search for some reason does not want to work for me.

Thanks
