Hello, I have a 2009 2wd Ltz avalanche with $250k miles. I hear a rattling noise in Drive when coasting. If I push the gas it goes away If I put it in neutral and coast t rattling immediately goes away. In 3 it goes away also. The engine light is not on. Please help it’s driving me crazy! Thanks in advance.

Have you looked underneath truck for debris?
Could be many things:
Heat Shields
U joints
Loose something.
Junk in bed or side bin.
BAd BAll joint or bushing etc

I have checked all of the above

SO nothing loose underneath to make the noise?

Then it is something inside.

And you're sure u-joints are good? The change in noise between drive & neutral make me think drivetrain related too.

Can you replicate the noise by (very carefully) putting the rear of the truck on jackstands and put gear selector to Drive? It should help to locate the noise if you can replicate while stationary.

Well if you checked everything outside then where is noise coming from

I am confused.

Drive shaft was replaced along with the u joints. I will try that this weekend. Thank you
