Good luck and read the fine print, I don't want anyone mad at me!

Butch

I like the portability of this system. I'm going to have to jump on this.

Thanks, Butch!

OK, I must be a total moron, I just can't figure this out. I have a XM ready Alpine HU but no cassette player, both of the mobile units seem to require a cassette player to use.

I'm interested but what else would I need to get this working in my AV (other than a cassette player)?

Thanks

My truck obviously doesn't have a cassette player (I have the stock 2002 HU). Am I going to be able to put this receiver in the truck at some point?

EDIT: I see I'm not the only one.

Hey! I just had my one conherent thought of the month.

I do have an A/V system in my Av which includes RCA inputs into my HU for my PS2. Would this work for the home XM unit?

I'm not sure if this is the same or not but wal-mart has a boom box with the little xm thingy that plugs into it made by delphi for $87 for the whole setup...is this a good price? or is it something different??

Looking for an XM Boom Box? Check this out:

I bought mine from these guys. Next day FREE shipping if you add another item on and get your total over $100. Excellent customer service. Price is as good as it gets on this item!! (y) ;)

Too bad Alpine is going Sirius in July.. I am about to get the last Alpine XM tuners around for a good price if anyone wants them?

First off if you don't have a tape player in your vehicle like I do then you will need a FM modulator to hook it up in your vehicle. with this you will be able to turn it to a channel like 88.1 and play it from there.

Secondly, I purchased my first skyfi back in December and purchased it with the boom box for 99 dollars each. I like mine and can carry it around about anywhere. However, they don't work very well in the car unless you are stationary. I have tried it and there is a lot of cut out.

Thanks to this deal I will get my second skyfi one for the vehicle and my first one for the home. Also I purchased this deal yesterday at 2:30 in the afternoon and received an email about three hours later saying that it was shipped and it will be here tomorrow. That is some very fast service.

OK, I guess I can go the FM modulator route but so far no one's been able to answer my question as to why I can't simply plug the home system into the aux inputs on my HU (I can currently plug my PS2 audio into it to listen to DVDs from my AV system). I even emailed xmradio.com and they just pointed me to a couple of links but didn't really answer my question.

Someone's got to be able to tell me if my idea will work or not, I can't see why it wouldn't but I'm no expert at this stuff.

Thanks again

MTBJoe- Iam not sure what the Delphi units come with but I just bought a Kenwood Sirius unit and vehicle kit that allows fm modulation and it has also an output jack and wire harness (stereo plug to 2 rca audio jacks) which plugs into your aux. inputs on your HU or if your deck has a input jack on the front (small stereo jack) which I have in another truck.

You can use either AC or DC with both kits. same plug end.

car kit has magnetic outdoor antenna.

Lots of info at XMfan .com

Oh yea, you can use the aux input RCA The ski-fi has its own output level so it may work fine .

Had my Skyfi installed yesterday that I bought using this thread. It sounds great on the bose system. Anyone thinking of getting XM needs to take advantage of this deal before it expires. love xm- would buy it for the comedy channel alone.

so is there any reason that I couldnt use thre aux button on the radio for this? I'm not real sure why its there on a bose 6 disc. I know I've seen it but can't figure how to make the thread thingy work right. What all do I need to get to make this work? Thanks

I dont have a bose HU, but my stock HU has the aux button, I also have onstar. To use the aux button you have to be able to connect "line in " into the HU. Mine does not have a input jack on front, so I would have to connect into the 9 pin connector on the back of HU. To do this I would disconnect onstar harness (from 9 pin) and attach a Pie aux 9 connector ( or similar). This allows you to plug your onstar harness into it and gives you a pair of audio inputs, which you can plug you auxillary item into.(xm receiver,mp3 player etc.) I havnt done this but I think it works, I think the pie unit is around $70.
