Okay, straight from a GM ordering guide, here's all the real information for the 2004 Avalanche. First, the main headlines:

Colors:
-Sunset Orange, Yellow, and Pewter are gone. Arrival Blue is being discontinued in December 2003. The new colors are Dark Blue Metallic, Sunburst Orange II Metallic (starting in January 2004), Silver Birch Metallic, and Sport Red Metallic. Well, I can't wait to hear the comments about this!

Options/Features:
-A tire pressure monitor is now standard, Stabilitrak is optional on Z66 models, and you can now get the DVD player & sunroof together.

Complete Outline with codes:
-UJ6- Tire pressure monitor (standard)
-Rear Seat DVD system is now available with the Power Sunroof, beginning Fall 2003
-V31- Brushed aluminum grille protector (not available on WBH models)
-JL4- Stabiltrak now optional on Z66 models (deletes rear locking differential & Traction Assist)- includes threshold switch
-CF5- Power Sunroof now available with DVD Player (appears to be optional on all models, including those with the bench seat)

The colors have also changed:
-25U- Dark Blue Metallic
-41U- Black
-47U- Dark Green Metallic
-50U- Summit White
-56U- Sunburst Orange II Metallic (starting January 2004)
-59U- Silver Birch Metallic
-62U- Dark Gray Metallic
-63U- Sport Red Metallic
-74U- Victory Red
-91U- Arrival Blue Metallic (through December 2003, then discontinued)

Anyone interested (yeah, like no one cares!)?! Anyone want a new 2004? If you like Yellow, Pewter, Sunset Orange, or Arrival Blue, you better get them while you can!

They just can't keep a color on the AV lineup can they ? Thanks for the information Beach ! :B:

Can I ask where you found this info I am looking at getting a 2004 (I wish and hope) and I would like to see some of the new feature like if they are changeing the grill (I hope not) and stuff like that I looked on GM Autobook yesturday and nothing but they might have an update tonight so where did you find this I want more info ;D (y) BTW great work on finding the info

I can't beleave it why are they cutting the yellow they just came out with it same with the arrival blue the arrival blue has even been a good seller I just hope they did not change the grill to be like the WBH and I want to know if they changed the cladding in any way

Avalance- Sure! Just follow these steps, and you can get the full 2004 information on all GM vehicles.

1. Click this link: GM Ordering Guide
2. Click the Chevy truck emblem
3. Click Print Book
4. A new window pops up, select Avalance from the menu
5. It changes, and now select Print Model
6. Click the blue Print button
7. It will now load, and is a PDF file, about 30 pages long

There are no styling changes, wheels or otherwise, just colors and options. There's still 1500 and 2500 models, and 1500 WBH models, and the two engine choices are identical. Have fun looking at it all!

I see two base models, two Z71's and one Z66. Is the North Face Edition one of the Z71's, or is it discontinued?

from what I was reading I think The North Face Edition (Y92) is discontinued I will look on GM Auto Book and see if they will let me price one out and then I will know for sure on TNF Edition

Thanks for all the 2004 info, Beach! Do you have any intel on engine options or spec changes?

Looks like the "new features" are:

- Tire pressure monitor (standard)
- Grille, protector, aluminum brushed (Optional)
- Stabilitrak, Vehicle Stability Enhancement System (Optional, Z66)

In the summary of the RPO codes (page 35), you can see XM. They also have photos of the two audio systems as well as the wheels towards the end of the document.

Hey guys, just found a 2004 Av-only site on that previous site. Here's the link:
2004 Av site

Click "New for 2004" and a new window will pop up listing changes. The North Face is gone, Yellow is done with, the lock cylinder on the passenger's door is deleted, the light in the glove box is gone, and a few other things. Click the above link to see it!

Having seen how the prices of the 2003's were higher than the 2002's, it will be interesting to see what happens with the 2004's. Something tells me the gas miledge has not improved any though.
BUT I STILL WANT ANOTHER ONE!!!!

Engine changes- Absolutely nothing to the 5.3 liter, but it says 320 horses and 445lb/ft of torque for the 8.1 liter under "Changes".

I still don't know why yellow is going away ??? ???.

Looks like a detune for the 8.1L. ???

I can't believe they didn't decide to put the 6.0 in the Av. With the new f-150s coming out with 300hp and 350ish of torque and the Hemi in the dodge I would think Chevy would realize that they need and engine to compete.

It's all about decontenting....a $2 part here, a $3 part there, somehow it all makes a difference ??? ???. They already did this to the 2003 Av, and the 2003 GM mid-size SUV's in particular--Chrysler has been doing it HEAVILY lately too.

Oh well, I guess our 2002 with lights in both the hood and glovebox, and dual power cloth seats WITH adjustable lumbar is a classic itself :).

We should be at about 32k by this time next year, so maybe we'll get a new '04 before the warranty runs out ...

Looks like my shot at a GM grilleguard just went up in flames.....according to the .pdf it's shipped to the dealer's Parts Department with a matching VIN.......no hanky panky here....... :6:
