Well, my father decided to move the AV while I was out with the wife. Hit a fire extinguisher and damaged the rear bumper. :C:

Not sure if the actual steel bumper will need to be replaced, but the cover has a hole and some damage on it.

Is this something I should even think about taking on? My father feels horrible, and I don't want to make him pay for professional repair.

I can get the bumper cover from www.chevy-parts-for-less.com for $177.33 + shipping, but I need to know how difficult it is to replace. Any pics would be welcomed/appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Gator

I need to do this myself and have the bumper cover sitting in my shed ~ so I'm interested in seeing the details of what is involved...

Easy as pie. Gently pop up 5 steps with flat blade screwdriver. The middle one is the only one with adhesive. new cover comes with the tape on it. After 5 steps are off, so is the cover !! Place new cover on and replace 5 steps, thats all there is to it.

Chief,

Where did you get yours, and how much $$$?

Through the site from another member -- it has a very minor cosmetic blemish so I got it very inexpensive.

Wow! That is REAL easy instructions for taking it off/on!

I forgot that I also replaced the large center step..Thats the one with the tape on it. not the bumper cover, so if you dont need to replace the step you just need to get some good 3M double sided tape to stick it back on.

and the cock ring on the spare tire jack, I sniped mine once and wiggled it out. I reused it and it's not coming out any time soon.

Oh yeah, forgot about the cock ring..That was a cock to get off. I thing I used a hose clamp to tighten it up as I destroyed the ring getting it off. Still all in all its a DIY job and not worth paying a shop.

Ok I understand popping up the 5 step plates to get the bumper cover off.  However I am confused about the whole cock ring.  Is this somethign that i have to do in order to actually replace the cover or does it depend on the removal of the step plates.  If that is the case I just bought the metal diamond deck replacement step plate covers, and this will be an all in one job.  Any help would be apprecieated.

The cock ring holds in the plate that houses the lock for the spare tire access. You can not get the bumper cover off with out removing  it. Once you get your head under there it will become obvious to you. Look behind where the lock is.

OK I replaced my bumper today.  While in the process I broke the piece that you have to unlock inorder to get your spare tire off.  Does anyone know what that thing is called or the part number.  I have bee looking for the last hour or so with no luck.  I figured I try my luck on here.
