Rear Seatbelt Mod?

Yesterday I was driving home from work. I took out the rear window and I had the sunroof open and all 4 windows open. I have done this before but this time I got lazy and I left the rear seats in the folded down position. ?As I am driving down the highway doing about 70 and the rear seatbelts start flapping like crazy. Very annoying ?

So I am thinking about adding a clip back there to hold the seatbelts when in this configuration. ?I looked at the clips on the rear seats and they don't look like they would work but maybe something like it might. ?

Has anybody had this problem and done anything about it?

If I come up with a mod then I will post it here.

What about something as simple as heavy duty velcro? You could stick one to the wall....maybe in a place that would be hidden when the seat is up and then the other on the back side of the belt. If you use black it woud be hidden. Put the softer side of the velcro on the belt itself so it won't rub the passenger. Good luck.....

How about a mod to make the rear passenger side seat belt easier to use. My kids have the hardest time w/ that buckle. I have sat back there and it is difficult. Does anyone else have this issue? or am I alone on this one.
Thanks,
Damon

Great Idea. I'll just have to play around with the location of it so that I don't make it uncomfortable for passengers.

Thanks again :D

Damon,
We too have that problem! It is nearly impossible to buckle. Almost like it sits too far down and back. Our 7.5 year old can't buckle it. We always have to climb in and help out. Wonder if this is still a problem on the '03?

Here is a thought...

Take the clip on the side of the seat....wrap it around the seat belt ........instead of attaching to seatbelt....and slip the clip back over the storage thingy on the side of the seat.....this would keep the belt tighter to the seat.....maybe enough not sure have to test...

An yes them rear seatbelts are a PIA for kids to hook up....always reaching back there to help out....

i did the same thing at ygmn, works pretty good... but the top still flaps around.

Same here as ygmn and BIGRED. I thought that's why the Chevy guys put them there. This works with the rear seats up or down. Sorry BIGRED - I have not experienced the flapping.

I always have the windows down, and yes, I had the flapping problem too. It was a real P.I.T.A. :7: I used to just crank the stereo a little louder to compinsate, but that doesn't word with the 2 yr old in the truck. Finally one day, I screwed around with the clip, as others did, and got it to stop for the most part. It still flapps twards the top of the seat. So now I crank the music even louder. ;)

ok so it does not flap around? with the windows down or up? back open or closed up? and were did you hook the clip?

Ya I have issues!

I was into the dealer 5-6 times over that belt reciver. Did the change once and the seat frame shered the top of the reciver end off! Tried new ends, even new seat frames. They would order wrong parts and rob them off other AV's. Still it sits at an odd angle that is hard to latch! Had to teach my 8 year old girl to do a half twist with a reverse gainer for full ingagement. dealer visits timed well with oil changes, so that was a boneness >:D
