Rear Window Squeaking!

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. The set up was perfect.

Actually a very light coat of Silicone lubricant should help. I would'nt use KY :cautious:

It will evaporate over time.

I am so shocked at you jnspur  But it was funny (y)

There's - reportedly - a good product you can get at BMW dealerships. Something like gummi pfleg... I know I've butchered the spelling; however, I've heard it recommended quite a bit for this type of problem.

I've never used it and have no affiliation - have simply heard it works.

Good luck.

Try a light coating of silcone spray. The paste ends up being a big debris magnet.

Are you sure it's the rubber? Mine squeaks (or creaks) every few months at the defroster terminals.

I use whatever I have around... a dab of wheel bearing grease, WD-40, White Lithium...

:)

303 or

BMW makes a product called GUMMI PHLEDGE.......which is designed for seals and such

My Rear Window squeaks, anyone know of a good lube for the rubber?
My rear window gets squeaky if I don't make sure the midgate is closed COMPLETELY. Sometimes it looks like it's closed, but it will click shut when it's pushed really hard. Sounds kinda weird, but it may be worth checking out.

We had sqeeks in ours too. Kinda like Creaky Crack noises. So we brought it to the dealer and a guy rode in the back then unlathced window and held it tightly and it didnt sqeek. so they ordered some new latch parts and now its sqeek free. Maybe you should have one of your family members try that for ya while you drive and see if itsqeeks when they hold it.

Heh heh, kind of off topic, i know, but that reminds me of something funny that happened near by last year and caused somewhat of a small uproar in town before everyone knew what actually happened. It was the same scenario, only involving a regular sedan with an enclosed trunk.
Police started receiving emergency calls about kidnappings that witnesses had seen happen in broad daylight that morning. Some of the calls claimed the victim was an adult, others said they had seen a child. But all the reports stated that people were getting stuffed in vehicle trunks, and being driven away in vehicles of various descriptions. I couldn't believe how fast the word got around; in minutes, every single mother had called every other mother they knew, and told them to keep their kids indoors, because extremely bold kidnappers were on the loose, and so far, police didn't have any solid leads on the perpetrators. Then they sent out a lot of guys to organize search groups to look for the reported kidnappers, and to keep an eye out for any further suspicious happenings.
Well the next morning in the paper, we were informed that there weren't any kidnappers after all. It had all gotten started when two mechanics were trying to locate a sqeaking noise coming from the rear of the car.....

LOL imagine the major :-[

So guys, when you do this little test, it might be a good idea to start where no one can see you getting in, especially if you leave the hard covers on. ;)
