Refinish Restorer Before/After pics

Both the Carworx and the CERAKOTE products will only restore the cladding back to it's original color.

There is no "dye".

If you are looking for a different color, you are going to need to paint.
exactly what I needed to know...I'll stick with this carworx then. it did definitely renew it but some of the striping stayed, like the sail panels which seems to be a common problem anyways

I used plasti dipn as a temporary thing but I plan on buying all extra cladding and smoothing them all out to color match them when I do a resprayScreenshot_20210116-174202_Messages.jpgScreenshot_20210123-121221_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20210124-114944_Gallery.jpg20210116_130315.jpg

Looks great! I had used the Rustoleum Wipe-New a couple of years ago, when it came in the little bottle. Worked really well. This summer, I got another kit, this time with the prep pads and the wiping pads instead of the bottle. The prep pads left streaks all over. I came back over it with the wipe pads, hoping that it would cover it up and look good again, but it didn’t. Researching, I can’t find an easy way to get it off. Will have to experiment. Will use R/R when I get it back off. Like the way this looks.

Anyone know what would be the best course of action if one were to put this on too heavy? I believe I went too thick at once with the rr and now I have some streaking along with glossy blotchy areas 12hrs later.

Never heard of it going on too thick. It may be the surface was not prepped evenly? Just try washing with Dawn detergent and see it it remains the same. May have to sand with 2000 grit and try again. If it is a smooth surface like an Escalade, try rubbing compound.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. After I cleaned it, there were still streaks and light areas but I was under the impression the restorer would soak in and bring back the faded areas. Maybe there's some kind of previous coating that didn't clean off. Just looks super glossy like tire shine in some spots so I thought maybe I used too much.

I've always used refinish restorer, and while it works great on the bed lids, tool compartments, and spoiler; it's a bear on the upper sails and roof slat. I have to apply several coats to the upper sails and sometimes it comes out a bit streaky. I took it to a body shop and asked if it was feasible to sand/smooth the panels but was told it would be too porous and the outcome isn't guaranteed. I know there were a few old threads that had folks swapping out the sail panels from escalade ext, or purchasing aftermarket stick on covers. Good luck.

It is good stuff but not always successful with tiger stripes. A coworker had a Volvo S60 that had the stripes bad. Not treated for over 2 years. 3 coats with a day between each coat and you could still see them. That bumper should have been sanded first. I sanded all of my panels smooth before painting them. I can can tell you it is a very tough plastic. 💪 hours and hours of sanding.
