I'm in the market for getting a 2002 Avalanche ... new, of course. Need some help from the members here .... I live in Toledo, Ohio and the dealer I'm currently dealing with is only searching for what I'm looking for in a 200 mile radius(something about dealers not happy with getting a vehicle with more than 200-300 miles on it from a trade). I'm looking for a 2002 4x4 with bucket seats (cloth) and the z-71 package (I would even consider a z-66 at this point)... I get the GM discount so for me a used '02 is not worth it ... the problem is that of the few that are remaining they have 5000+ miles on them and they will only give me an additional 500 off the GMS price ... I think that is a crock ... there is a pewter one with 6000 miles near Akron .... I also have a 2002 S-10 that I need to get rid of so any ideas you guys and gals have would be appreicated .... Thanks! ... email me a note if you like jvaillan@mcare.med.umich.edu .... PS ... payment is an issue for the wife so keeping the cost down is a must ... currently the one we where basing the payment on is now sold ... it was 35,100 (sticker) GMS (I think was) 28,??? ... price was 468 a month ... :D: :C: :6:

You got a color preference?

Nashville TN area:
Bill Heard Chevrolet 615-731-3000 have Red, White, Blue, and Pewter all with cloth or sport cloth from $35K-$37K

Capitol Chevrolet 615-748-8532 has Blue (w/leather) $37K

Jim Reed Chevrolet 615-341-3161 has Red w/ sport cloth $37k

Cunningham Chevrolet 615-792-2378 has Red w/sport cloth $36.5k

I got all of these off of GMBuypower.com, that's probably how your dealer is looking. I think that they have a max search radius of 250 miles from a given city or zip.
Hope it helps.

not at this point .... other than no Green or Orange ... I don't like the green wife doesn't like the Orange .... really like the gray on gray ... kinda hides the plastic a little bit .... guess if I had to list them it would be

Pewter
Gray
Blue
Red
Black
White

Is the S-10 going in towards the purchase of the Av or are you going to sell privately...I would recommed trying to sell to a private party...you will a better chance of getting more for your money....good luck... :B:

I've got 5 dealers within 15 minutes of the house. I know one of them has a white Z71, but I am not sure of the options. I will check for you tomorrow.

Ron Marhofer Chevrolet has a few 2002 left. One appears to have the Z71 and buckets, it is red. Doug Chevrolet has a pewter 2002 with Z71 and buckets.

Phone numbers are as follows:
Ron Marhofer Chevrolet - 330-688-6644 Fred Aboid is the general manager, Dean Gogolewski GM BuyPower manager
Doug Chevrolet - 330-645-7500 Michael Corathers GM BuyPower manager

The one at Star Chevrolet is a demo with 6000 miles.

White av's are the bomb....you won't find a nicer color...of course I'm not biased in my statement... :B:

end - thanks for the info .... I'll bet the Pewter one with 6000 miles is the same one that two different salesman tried to get me to purchase .... I think I just might call the guy myself and see what he is offering on the pewter one ....

I now have a line on 4 different 2002 Av's ... Three are white and one is Blue ... my question to all of you reading this is this ... the Blue Av has 3272 miles on it ... they are calling it a Demo, fine ... but they are only offering an additional $500 off for the milage .... now is that because I get the GMS discount? .... I would rather have the Blue one because it is cheaper than the other thee (one by $1300, one by $1200 and the other by $300 but this one has the 40/20/40 seats) ... and that would be the next question ... what is better in cloth ... Buckets w/center console or 40/20/40 ....

thanks and I hope to be an Av owner by Christmas ... boy would that be a nice gift for me .... wonder what I'll get the wife? :0: ... we do need a new TV ... ;D

You last question is the hardest as that is such a personal preference. Me, I will always go for the leather buckets. Especially with the Av because then you get heated seats. Being in Minnesota, I have been enjoying my heated seats for a while now!

Jamie

I'm another one of those guys who loves the leather...with the heated seats...coming from cloth..I would never go back....but it is entirely up to you to make that choice....as far as the av's themselves go...which ever gives you the best deal in the end is probably the one you'll land...I'm assuming...so good luck...and maybe just maybe...santa will throw his back out bringing you your gift.... :) :B:

I would have to agree with Jamie and NJAV. The choice between the buckets or bench is a personal preference.

In your post you stated that the one had buckets and the other the split bench. Being that the difference is only 300 is it safe to assume that they are both cloth?

I have seen the sport cloth bucket seats and I have the 40/20/40 split bench. My personal preference was to go with the 40/20/40 split bench. I prefer the cloth texture on the bench. Bear in mind that the bench has a "center console" in that the middle seat back folds down and has storage, its just not as big as the true center console with the buckets.

As far as the dealer discount the price only 500 for the miles, that is actually a fair price break. Most dealers only discount between .10 to .15 a mile for a demo if any. They are taking off a hair more than .15 per mile which is on the top end of the scale.

If you decide to go for the one with the 3272 miles on it, make sure to request to see the maintenance records for that vehicle. Also check to see how many hours are on the vehicle. With a little calculation you can finds out roughly the average speed the truck was driven.

Make sure to include an oil change into the deal before delivery.

The above is just my opinion and should be taken as such ;D ;) (y)

Hope this helps in your decision ;D

Good luck in whatever you decide to go with.

Go to this site and when it asks for your zip code you can extend your search by obtaining the zip codes from surrounding cities from "ZIP CODE.com", or the US PO.

In that way you can defeat the distance restriction of the service.
You can search major cities for a better selection and then you can deal directly with that dealer for the best price.

I would concur with E as the mile allowance at .15 is very fair.
Really, thinking it over why do you not just go to an 2003? With your discount your going to net out just fine-
o.o is offered for 36 months-
I was talking to my dealer today and he stated they are having a hell of a time moving the 03's??
keep checking and your gonna get your dream truck- DO NOT SETTLE :B:

Sands....did he state the reason why they were having trouble moving the new Av's...maybe it may be that they are a tad more expensive....or could it be everyone trying to get the good deals on the leftovers.... :B:

As far as seats go. I like the 40/20/40. With kids it allows me to bring my boys and the midgate down. I have buckets and can't bring 'em both to Home depot for the work details. After having trucks the 3 in front is very handy..

Well it looks like the deal may go south on me .... Even with the new incentives that GM is offering .... they will not even pay off my s-10 for me ... been trying to sell it out right but I can't get anyone to bite ... dealer and I are only off by $500 ... I can't believe that $500 bucks would break there bank, but only time will tell .....

Trying to go for a '03 Dark Gray Av ... with 40/20/40 cloth seats with Z71, Trailer pack, Steps, and Driver Convenience package ..... :8: now but hope to be ;D by the end of the day or I will be :-[

So whats happening? Are you getting the Av? Inquiring minds want to know ;D I hope you are able to get things worked out (y)

Congrats my friend...I'm glad to see it all worked out for you in the end...imagine all the fun your going to have now...with your new truck.... (y)

well not so fast now ..... I thought I was going to have my Av by Sat. BUT .... I now find out that if I want the Running boards after the fact (does not come on the truck I was looking at) ... they are $519 for the plastic running boards ..... So now he is trying to find the same Av I was to get with running boards because they are only $395 on the invoice and with the GMS I could probably get them for around $350 ... So I'm not so sure of when I will be getting it now ..... Now I wait to hear back from the dealer ..... and wait and wait and wait :8: :C: :-[
