Removed torque management with predator programmer

I removed mine yesterday and while I was on my way home last night, I heard a loud cluck, a loss of HP and then it was fine. Now while I drive around town, I notice that taking off I'm a little sluggish.
Do you think that I screwed up my Torque converter?

Manny

Manny with the TQ managment removed your converter may be slipping off the line then engaging again hard(loud clunk). Have you tryed any hard launches from a light with it? If you floor it what happens? Just trying STILL to figure out what happened.

Dude,

You have got to have the worst luck....I hope it's nothing serious.

I agree with Bonedog...try some hard off the line takes offs and see what happens. It does however sound like it's engaging and dis-engaging.

Let me know,

Bill

If I floor it she'll take off slow. Just for about 3-4 seconds, then she hauls izass. It'll shift at the right points and also kick down when I need to punch it. It's wierd. you have to drive it to understand what/ how it feels.

Manny sounds like the converter isn't locking up as it should. Try running the Diablo in the record mode and upload to Johan. Might need a slight tweaking in the program. With the tranny issues you have had the converter may be well worn in and the complete removal is causing the lock up to work erradically. You might need just a little TQM to make everything work right.

Basically sounds like what happens with the race car trying to get up my drive like I was explaining yesterday.. revs sky high but just creeps along but if I have a little speed with it climbs the drive just fine. With me its a 4000 speed stall converter causing excessive slippage with you it might be the opposite. Email Johan and see what he says. If you need I can do a diagnostic run or two with you and give my interprtations.

On the topic of TM, to me, it is almost be careful what you wish for
As I have made changes to the truck the TM was lessened. I believe the Whipple programmer was the big item. That combined with headers and shift kit and I have to 'manage' my right foot much more. When in 2 wheel drive the back end breaks loose pretty easy. Also, with the right conditions (small rise in road etc.) I spin the wheels when going from 1st to second. I'm hoping that this is less on an issue when the road is warmer, more 'sticky'..

How do you remove or lower the torque management with the predator??. I just installed the basic program in mine and have not played around with it since. But the torque management sucks. I cannot even spin the tires w/ the bigblock :-[

Sparky,

What kind of a Shiftkit did you install...Did you do it yourself and if you don't mind telling how much.

Thanks,

Hi, It is the Transgo Shift kit. The kit itself was only a little over $100.00. I did not install it myself, I have neither the place or skills to do something like that. So the install cost me 5 hours as I recall.

You have to e-mail Johan at Johan@DiabloSports.com and ask him to give you the 87 octane and the 92 octane performance installs and then when you get them, ask him to remove TM. I now have 4 different programs I can run on my Diablo.

Srarky,

Thanks....I'll look into it.

This is what is needed:

Predator PC interface

Hardware required:
12VDC 1.0A Power supply
DB-9 9-pin Serial Cable Extension (radio shack part no: 26.117B)

Removing the torque management should not affect the torque converter off the line. That is still a mechanical connection..........from what ive been reading it sounds like the predator is making it take off in the wrong gear. Try pulling it down into low while taking off and see if that makes a difference.

Hope it helps, Mark
