I need to remove the side panel bedliner in my Avalanche. However, it has some very strange retainer clips I have not seen before.  They are used to hold the side panels on...28 of them.

As you can see from the attached pic, they have three small indentations surrounding the circular part.  It looks like there is a special tool needed to remove them.

Has anyone removed these before? Can you please tell me the kind of tool you used.

Thank you,

Tom

I used ? small flat blade screw driver or a pick to remove those.

I used a jeweler screwdriver to get mine out.. They are standard pop out clips like used elsewhere. Just a slightly different design.

You get the center section to pop up then the whole piece falls out pretty much.

I used two pics similar to the ones in the pic above. It was a bit painstaking and I drew some blood, but I got them done.

Now that they are all out I would like to replace with some easier clips to remove with a more standard head (like the ones in my engine compartment).  Do you know the size of these?...I see 6.5, 8, 9, and 10 mm on Amazon...but measuring them is not easy.

Thank you,

Tom

Take one to a auto parts store and match them up, I just reused mine.

Getting them off was such a pain...I bought the standard ones off Amazon (like those in the engine compartment and other areas) and am in the process of replacing the indented ones with those.

The 2013 I bought has definitely not been babied like my 2006. There was mud/water/pine needles in the bed under the mat and behind the bed sides of my 2013.  I am in the process of cleaning all of that up. I don't know how, but there were even pine needles up in the center light under the cladding.
