Removing Z71 Stickers

Keep in mind the stickers are like the tags on a mattress - it is illegal to remove - and it probably voids the warranty ;D

like the tags on a mattress, only the seller is forbidden from removing the warning stickers or tags - the consumer is always free to remove warning stickers and tags (go home and rip a tag off your mattress if it makes you feel good, no arrest will take place), and no warranty void problem near as I can tell . . .

very first thing I did on my Av was to remove the silly warning label on the right rear side (inside) of the bed . . . my "4X4" stickers on either side are targetted for removal soon . . .

Do you think the hairdryer method would work for the ugly dealer stickers?
The BEST way to get the dealer stickers removed is in the paperwork. Just before you finish the paperwork and take posession, hand them some paperwork to sign stating that they are agreeing to pay you $xx per month for advertising. As long as the decals remain, they should pay you. Just get it in writting. At first they will laugh, but when they see you are deadpan serious... I got a dealer in South Dakota to remove the decals after about an hour of decal negotiations (that was back in the late 80s).

My AV dealer only uses those temp plastic plates as place holders until you get your real plates.

If you go this route, stick to your guns. Don't let them convince you that they 'always' sell them this way. Just because the others are sheeple doesn't mean you have to be. Oh, make sure they come off cleanly too or no deal.

I removed my Z66 stickers within the first couple of weeks. Now, what I want is Z66 stickers like the Z71 stickers of Suburbans and Tahoe's. You know, the little ones by the rear doors in the C pillar. Those are cool.

A little classier I think, and it still designates my truck as a Z66. Anyone seen/make these?

Do you think the hairdryer method would work for the ugly dealer stickers? ?I think advertising my dealer 3 times is a bit much and I'd prefer to get his cheap sticker off my paint. :8:

I made it crystal clear to the saleswoman at my dealer that there were to be no emblems or stickers advertising their dealership on my beast! She honored the request ;D

As for the Z71 logo, I have the Pewter Avy and I absolutely HATED the orange Z&! sticker :8: I pulled mine off with no heat or chemicals and had a slight adhesive residue, which I promptly removed with rubbing alcohol and then waxed.

I was going to replace it with the white/gray Z71 sticker that comes on the white Avy and decided against it. I'm in the process of looking at pinstriping and/or body graphics and will probably have Z71 or 4X4 custom painted on to match whatever graphics/stripes I go with...maybe blend them in together, somehow. Whatever I go with will definitley be subtle.

Has anyone else jazzed up their Avy with some body graphics or stripes? If so, pics would be appreciated.

Stream Line Design (http://www.streamlinedesign.com/avalanche/index.html) had promised us a AV label to go over the nasty yellow visor warnings. ?But, I think their lawyers got to them. ? :8: ?:8:

He's got them now. Check the website next week. He sent me a Zip file w/ the pics. They look great! The bowtie and the Avalanche name.....

10/9/02 UPDATE: They're up on the website, and look great: http://www.streamlinedesign.com/avalanche/interior.html

I'm putting in my order today; as soon as I can decide on which pattern! ;D

Funny thing about those dealer stickers. I know a service writer who as standard dealer procedure would look for the dealer sticker on all vehicles coming in for service ??? Not funny, if you had his dealerships sticker you would get prefered service if not, oh well. Just something to think about!

OK I gotta' post this here so no one does the same lame thing as me. Apparently I got the sticker a little too hot with the hair dryer and ended up with a bunch of adhesive left on the truck when I removed the sticker. I had to use a ton of 3M Adhesive Remover and elbow grease to get the stuff off! Of course the other side I didn't heat up as much and it came off with no residue.

I got the stickers for the visor warning labels from streamline and they look great. ;) I got the AV and bowtie in a blue to purple fade. Awesome is the word. ;D

I removed my visor warning labels by just using patience. Start on a corner and keep pulling, GENTLY. They will come off, including the glue residue. Just keep a gentle pressure and press down on the fabric with the other hand.
Oh, it helps to live in Fl or Texas, where it's HOT inside the Av with the windows up.

About those Visor warning stickers, I was able to get nice logo stickers to cover these from streamlinedesign.com
They are also the same size as the rightside bed warning sticker.

Anyone else get those stickers? I'm thinking of getting them...$15 for two stickers is steep! But I hate the warning label.

here's 12 pages on these:

Visor decals

several have them, they are much nicer. I think streamline is the only one selling these for that purpose.

Has anyone tried the heat & ice suggested by flynhigh to remove dings and dents and was it successful?
secondly did the heat damage the paint work and to what degree did it have to be refinished?

I have a small dent in the lower rear quarter just behind the wheel on my Avalanche that has annoyed me from the day i bought it and was going to wait until i did a full repaint to repair but curiosity has got the cat and I cant help wonder if this method will alleviate this tiny annoyance i see every time i open the passenger side door for my wife.

Any input or response would be greatly appreciated

When I got ran into I took it to the body shop that I use.
Showed him a dent in my hood in my line of site that like you has
bothered me from day one.  He said you?re in luck I just did a truck the same color.
Then he told me to open the hood. He checked under the dent said brace was not in
the way. Said the Paintless Dent Repair guy comes every Wednesday he would see if he
could get it out. When I picked up the Avy everything looked great included the hood.
It cost me $60 for the hood dent. Maybe check into that. If the dent is accessible and the other doesn?t work.
