Hello,
All this talk of Silver Star Fogs, I got me a pair of 883's and went to change them.
Well LOW AND BEHOLD.
My EuroLight 883 must of come loose as there is a HUGE melt line in the trashed the socket- a good 3 inched of melted area.
I am under warranty BUT I am SURE this wil not be covered?
Any ideas of repalcement cost on the Passenger side Fog housing,
Lens cover 100% clear adn intact, just looks like the buld wiggled loose and melted itself into a new position 3 inches south.
What a bummer.
I hate anything to be wrong with my truck- it is a compulsive obsessive thing-

The only funny thing is the bulb was working adn I would not have noticed it untill it eventually burnerd out?

Any idea of replacement cost and How To would be great- again, lens is FINE, just the houseing is AFU!
Damn.

I recall that there is no smaller part availability than the whole housing. Like you cannot even order the rear bracket, you have to order the whole damn thing.

Cost I don't know about, but I hope it's not too much.

Same problem with mine :8: I put stock bulb back in and brought it to the dealer with the problem. The first thing they said to me was you changed the bulbs didnt you. :C: Not covered :7:
I have not noticed any further damage with my silverstars (y)

is there any way you can takeout the aftermarket bulbs, and replace them with the factories? i would try to get it replaced under the warranty if possible. at least change the bulb on the side that is not melted.

i would have said, "No!", with a straight face of course.

Check the dealers price and then check ebay out and see if someone is selling this item

A dealer would have to be able to prove that you had changed the lights.

Swap the lights with the OEM ones and take it in for warranty.

that's what i would do.

I have a couple freinds that work at the dealership, and they are always talking about things I've done. So I guess the Head Hancho heard. :7:

Check EBAY...sometimes they are listed

Wow! That is bad!!

I agree, I would have told them I didn't change out anything, with a straight face, after I had put the OEM blubs back in of course! >:D

Hate being dishonest for a stupid thing-
I do not think my SStars hurt it- they are 37. 5 watts as well...
I have placed the OEM bulbs back in adn we'll see :)

NOT very ethical to take back and make a warranty claim for something that is not warranty......

Hear! Hear!

I like Robert Heinlein's statement of 'Why I won't steal'..
"Because I'm too damn stinkin' proud!"
