Last week I got a crack in my formerly perfect GM windshield. I now need to get another one but it seems like most other parts for this truck, it's been discontinued.

Does anyone out there have a source that I haven't thought of? I've tried Safelite, independent glass shops and the dealer.

This is frustrating.

Safelite should be able to do it..

May not have it in stock at your location but they can get them....

I just did the quote thingy for my local safelite online and came up with:
$310+tax +disposal etc out of pocket no insurance.
They can come out on Friday to replace.

When I bought my 2003 Z-66 used back in early 2020, the windshield had a pretty good crack in it.

I had a local glass shop come to the house and replace it out on the driveway.

My cash price was $158.78.

I don't know what the current price is since the pandemic, but that price is on par with what I have always paid in the past.

Wow, those are great prices.

Glad to see that you can still get the GM glass. Out here in California, it's a discontinued part number. I've tried Safelite the dealerships and local glass shops.

Neither of those seem to be referencing OEM GM glass. Safelite etc. won't be selling that.

Windshields are not something GM stocks beyond a model lasts year as most end up at safelite due to insurance companies.

It looks like it's still available from GM, doesn't show that it's discontinued.. It's same windshield for 99-07 Chevy/GMC trucks, Tahoe's, Suburban's, Escalade's. But any aftermarket windshield repair shop can put in a new one, doesn't have to be an official GM..

I've called a few of those GM parts places. They say that it's in stock, but it really isn't.

Handlees Chevrolet in Davis, about 25 miles PPG and Pilkington make replacements. I guess I'm going to have to go with that.

A few years back, my daughters '92 Cherokee windshield broke.. I went to the local junk yard, they quoted me $120, but I had to pull and install it myself.. Thinking about it I drove it to the local glass guy.. they did it the next day for $165.

I assume in the regular US (where I live) there are so many Silverado's et al of similar vintage still driving around, someone would have an acceptable (maybe not GM) windshield in stock.

The glass shop said that there has been a lot of demand for the Suburban/Avalanche glass. The dealership that said they had the OEM glass did not.
I'm getting the PPG or Pilkington glass on Saturday. I have looked everywhere for new glass. There must be a difference between the Silverado and the Suburban.

GM PART # 15199034 DISC GM COST $198.74
Yes it fits the pickups and subs and yukons up till 2007

On Saturday I have the Avalanche detailed and them had the replacement windshield installed.

The new one is made by PGW. The inside area at the top center of the windshield has a different pattern than the GM one, but there are no waves in the glass. I'm thankful for that.

On Friday it's off to get new upper and lower control arms installed.

I had an issue with my S10 extreme and it’s glass. They woul ask the model and then if it was an extreme (mine if a ZQ8 which is an extreme without the ground effects) and they said no dice. So I asked again about the LS model and wow, would you believe it, they had my glass.

Maybe next time say your truck is a 1500 and I bet it will be in stock. The 2500’s were a bit more rare, and the Bodies are the same.
